Rae's Life Takes a Dangerous Turn,
By "lillaurford" (in my dream world) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Secrets (Fingerprints, Book 4) (Paperback)
After Rae discovered her gift to read people's thoughts through their fingerprints, Rae realizes that she owes her life to Anthony... In "Trust Me", Rae tried to help Anthony by finding his father, and then she helped him get into Sanderson Prep... but by doing this, she bent their relationship too far... In "Secrets", Anothony befriends Rae's old friends at his new school, and Rae is left with only one friend- Yana. While Rae and Anthony are barely speaking, she and Yana search for answers. They come upon the building where her mother went to her mysterious "group meetings"... Rae knows all the answers can be found there, but blinded by her excitement, Yana and Rae fall into a trap where their only chance of escape is Anthony... Will he come to her rescue? Fingerprints is one of the best series out there... Rae and her quest to find out her mother's past is thrilling and exciting... The relationship that develops between Rae and Anthony was set perfectly... They didn't become BEST friends in one book, but like in real life, it developed over time, where eventually their trust and feelings for each other were able to grow stronger. This book, as well as all the past and future books to come, places you with situations you never dreamed... I suggest reading this suspenseful book and fall into Rae's world- who knows how long it will last...

The thrilling fourth book in the Fingerprints series.,
This review is from: Secrets (Fingerprints, Book 4) (Paperback)
Rae has two people she has been able to rely on, Anthony, who knows her secret, and Yana, who doesn't. When Rae helped Anthony get a football scholarship at Sanderson Prep, she never expected she'd lose him, to the very people who abandoned her when she needed them most - her former friends. So now, Rae and Yana are on their own, trying to find out who's after Rae. They figure the best way to do that is to investigate the New Age group Rae's mother was in before Rae was born. There are people out there that know the full truth about all the strange things that went on in the group, but they are afraid. When a man who worked at the center where the group was held offers to meet with Rae and tell her everything, she jumps at the chance, not knowing that she and Yana may be getting themselves into more trouble than they can handle. I can't wait to read the next book in the series, and the wait until it is released is way too long! All readers who enjoyed the first three books in the Fingerprints series must read this one.

Fingerprints #4: Secrets is my favorite so far in the series. It has more "teen angst" in it than the previous books, but it's written so well that it just pulls you along. I loved how Rae and Anthony were "pining away" for each other, each thinking that the other didn't have time for them/didn't want to be with them. Anthony is now attending Sanderson Prep and to his surprise becomes in with the "in crowd" -- Rae's old group of friends. Marcus buddies up to him, much to Anthony's discomfort once he realizes that Marcus is Rae's ex-boyfriend and can't stop talking about her. Jackie, one of the Rae's old friends, flirts with Anthony at lunch. Rae and Yana are shocked when they see her stealing clothes out of a boutique, and Anthony is repulsed when he sees her chugging tequilla at a party and then attempting to drive. He figures out that something is really wrong with her and goes to Rae for help, but she thinks that Anthony is interested in Jackie since he can't stop talking about her, and continues to investigate her mother's death and the mystery surrounding it with Yana. When Jackie overdoses on asprin and is checked into the hospital, though, Rae knows she has to help. Anthony feels like he'll never have a chance with Rae, and Rae starts to wonder if Anthony and her could be more than friends, but nixes the idea when she sees him hanging out with her old friends and talking about Jackie all the time. But they put things aside and start working together again -- and Rae/Anthony fans will be VERY happy with the ending of this book. :) Through all this Rae has something big on her mind -- she's been finding fungus in her mouth and has been getting numb spots on her body. She goes to the doctor, who seems concerned. Rae is very worried, since these are some of the symptoms that her mother had before she died. About the last third of the book starts getting really exciting and delvs into the mystery. There are some really creepy narratives from one of the villains, and some spooky scenes, like when Rae's portrait of her mother is slashed. Things REALLY start getting scary when Rae and Yana are ... well, I won't tell you. :) This series just keeps getting better and better ... by now I've practically written a case file on who I think the villains are. I can't wait until everything is revealed.

The Secrets Are Still Out There...,

This review is from: Secrets (Fingerprints, Book 4) (Paperback)
Rae Voight knows that Anthony is still mad at her for going behind his back to find out about his dad and he even tries to avoid being paired with her in group therapy, but they get stuck telling each other about their hopes and dreams. Rae is surprised when she finds out that Anthony really wants to go to Sanderson Prep, her own high school, so that he can play football there. Anthony knows that he can never go there because it is way too expensive and he can barely read, let alone pass a bunch of tests. But Rae is determined to make this dream come true. She helps Anthony study and learn to read better and sets up a tryout practice with the coach at Sanderson Prep. Before he knows it, Anthony is on his way to the rich kids' school and he gets to play on the best football team in the area.Rae is so happy to have Anthony at Sanderson with her - now she will finally have a friend at school! However, things don't turn out the way that Rae planned. She is shocked to discover Anthony hanging out with her old group of friends - even Marcus, her ex-boyfriend who is trying to get her back! Rae doesn't know what to do and she finds herself leaning on Yana, her only girlfriend, more and more as more strange stuff happens. First she gets some fungus on her tongue and is worried that she is developing the same symptoms her mother did before she died. Then there is the creepy teacher, Mr. Jesperson, who always seems to be watching her. And Rae still doesn't know anything more about her mother and the New Agey group that she was involved in before she was committed. Rae has a feeling that she is finally going to find some answers when she finds out her mother's group used to meet at Wilton Community Center. However, when she goes to the center and meets Aiden Matthews, she ends up having more questions than she did before. Rae desperately wants to go over everything with Anthony - but all he ever talks about is football and Jackie, one of her ex-friends from before. How can she deal with all of these secrets on her own? This is the fourth book in the Fingerprints series and if you have read the first three before this, than this one just keeps drawing you in deeper. Every time Rae finds out something about her mother there are a ton of other questions that pop up and the reader is really kept guessing as to what is going to happen. And its not like Rae can just worry about her mom, she has to worry about not having any friends at school, whether she should get back with Marcus or not, what the heck she is supposed to do about Anthony, typical, normal life stuff. Just be advised that the book has a total cliffhanger ending AGAIN - make sure to have book #5 ready to go!

This series keeps getting better and better. In this book, more avenues are opened and more questions raised, but you never think, "Ugh, this is too much!". You just keep reading, unable to tear your eyes from the page, and when you finish, you're already eagerly anticipating the next installment. In this book, Anthony is starting school at Rae's prep school. He doesn't expect to fit in, but he does, to his surprise and Rae's jealousy. He gets in with Rae's former "elite" friends, with hardly any time for Rae or her problems. My review is pretty vague since suspense and surprise are the key elements to this series, but take my advice and read "Secrets" and the rest of this amazing series by Melinda Metz. --Rachel

An open target...,
This review is from: Secrets (Fingerprints, Book 4) (Paperback)
Rae Voight has finally discovered the truth about her mother -- and has even found a horrifying revelation about herself. It still seems apparent that those that are after her, because of her extraordinary ability to touch a fingerprint and read the thoughts of the person who left it behind, aren't giving up on her yet -- and it seems that more actions are being taken by the ones who hide in secrecy. Anthony has just gotten into Rae's school, Sanderson Prep, and is finally happy with his place in society. But at school, there's a girl named Jackie -- who is looking for danger. Anthony has to figure out the truth about Jackie fast, before something bad happens. But more so, Rae has an even bigger agenda -- it's finally time to search for her mother's past. There are many secrets to uncover, but little does Rae know how much the danger is growing. Fingerprints #4: Secrets is the thrilling continuation of the exciting Fingerprints series by Melinda Metz, and the most harrowing book in this intense series yet.

My oh my, this series just never seems to stop! But that's a super awesome thing! When Anthony gets a scholarship to attend Sanderson Prep, Rae's school, things seem to be looking up for these two. Anthony is psyched to have the opportunity to be closer to Rae and she seems equally thrilled to have him there, knowing he's one step closer to fulfilling his dreams. But things don't start off so well and after a number of misunderstandings pull these two apart it seems as if they might be going their separate ways. Anthony becomes immersed in the world of the popular clique, going to parties and hanging with the jocks at lunch, while Rae is obsessing about her mothers' illness and whether or not she's starting to show symptoms of the same mysterious affliction. A weird love triangle emerges as Marcus begins to confide in Anthony his desire to win Rae back and elicits his help, in the way of advice, to gain her trust.
Feeling abandoned by Anthony, Rae enlists the help of Yana to help solve the mystery of her mothers' death and to collect data on the New Age group her mother was a part of. Anthony halfheartedly pursues Jackie, since he's now convinced himself that Rae and Marcus are bound to get back together, and more misunderstanding bloom when Rae thinks there's a real romance afoot. But as with previous books in this series, things aren't always what they seem and as Anthony quickly figures out, there's more going on with Jackie than he first thinks. Instead of simply running hot and cold, Jackie has some real issues that culminate in an attempted suicide that nobody saw coming. Meanwhile, the closer Yana and Rae get to the truth, the stranger the truth becomes and the more danger they seem to attract. When Rae gets too close to the answers she's seeking, a showdown with the mystery stalker takes place, leaving the reader with an amazing, suspenseful ending, one that thrusts Rae and Anthony back together in a spectacular way. It truly opens the door, and I mean wide open, for a real romance to begin, yay! This book, this whole series, is so sharply written and so thrilling that as soon as I finished one book, I'm scrambling for the next. I literally read books one through three in one sitting, they're simply that great. By far, the best series I have ever read. Melinda Metz weaves together a compelling story, blending it with equal parts mystery, suspense, friendship and romance. I'm truly excited to read book five!

This review is from: Secrets (Fingerprints, Book 4) (Paperback)
In this book, Secrets, Rae tries as hard as she can to find out about her mother and her past. Because she knows her ability is somehow connected to her mother and if she dosen't hurry her own body will beat her stalker in killing her. Usually she would run to Anthony and ask for help but he seems to have more important things to do ever since he started at her school. Rae is furious at him. It looks like it's just Rae and Yanna now to solve the ongoing mystery but Rae could be walking into a trap. THis book was great. Melinda Metz once again delivers suspense, romance, and mystery in book [amt]. I can't wait till the next book, Betrayel, comes out. I hope it's just as good as this one. I reccomend Secrets to anyone who's a fan of the series and wants to read more. Have fun!
