Book Description

May 1, 2007
A new family saga from the well-loved Scottish authorWhen the woman orphaned Victoria Pringle believes to be her great-grandmother dies, Victoria is offered a job in the kitchens of the Pringle family, tenants of the Laird of Darlonachie. But times are changing, both above and below stairs, and Victoria must face up to new choices, and come to terms with a long-buried secret in her past.

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Victoria is the darling of her great-grandmother and the last of her line in a family that has served the lairds of Darlonachie faithfully for centuries. But much has changed in the years following the Great War, and when Victoria is suddenly left alone in the world, Mr. Luke's wife makes her life as cook's assistant miserable. Andrew Pringle, her best friend, is several years older and hopes to make her his wife when she is grown, but he fears competition in the form of young Mark, closer to Victoria's age and sharing her interests. Kirkwood begins a charming new family saga set in southwest Scotland during the years between the world wars with this lushly descriptive, warmly evocative, and unblinkered glimpse at a mostly neglected yet certainly significant time in history. More About the Author

I live in Scotland U.K. and I have written 15 family sagas with authentic farm and country backgrounds, mainly set in Scotland. So far I have written them in series spanning three to four generations. Each book stands alone but I believe they are more enjoyable read in sequence. They are available in many UK libraries and on the internet. I have also written 6 shorter romantic novels under the pseudonymn Lynn Granger. I am presently uploading these as E-readers under my own name to avoid confusion.
I have been a member of the Romantic Novelists Association for many years and enjoy the yearly Conference. I won the Elizabeth Goudge Trophy in 2000.

I went to school in Yorkshire, then Agricultural College, but I have lived most of my adult life in Scotland. My own background is dairyfarming but I enjoy gardening, cooking, reading, walking and my grandchildren.
