Ian Percy helps corporations around the world find passion and develop meaningful purpose. Over the last ten years, I've arrived at several excellent seminars and workshops where the leader focused on helping people identify their life's purpose. I found each of these experiences to be valuable and life-changing. Interestingly, I also found that my life purpose shifted a bit each time I did a different exercise during such an event.

If you cannot afford to spend thousands of dollars and attend weeks' worth of such programs, I can definitely assure you that Ian Percy's book, The 7 Secrets of A Life of Meaning, is the next best thing. Be sure to read and reread this book. That will give you the incremental opportunity to hone your thinking.

Mr. Percy also offers a CD version of this book which I highly recommend. Hearing his interesting voice makes the material even more compelling.

So what are the 7 secrets?

1. Unleash the power of your purpose
2. Change your current reality
3. Attract people who will affirm your destiny
4. Make courageous choices
5. Learn from the wisdom of others
6. View your richly imagined future
7. Bring your passion to life

Of these secrets, I found number 6, View your richly imagined future, to be the most moving and helpful. Most of us have trouble seeing a future in our minds that involves something other than owning certain possessions or being with certain people. But a richly imagined future will have many more dimensions than that.

I think this book is well worth reading just for this material about the 6th secret.

If you want to awake with energy and joy every day, this book will do you more good than anything else I can recommend to you. To gain that benefit, you'll have to do all of the exercises. You'll enjoy that task. I have been enjoying doing as many things differently as possible since I finished the book a week ago.

Having devoured all the self-help books in my early business years, I still have a fascination in re-visiting books from the genre. I like to see how things have evolved from Dale Carnegie, to Anothony Robbins, and so forth. Percy's work here is a nice addition to the genre. Yes, it covers many things you will have heard before, but sometimes hearing a new voice, a new angle, or just one paragraph can respark the energy. His visualization chapter here is particularly lucid and effectual. Highly recommended book for a rainy day.
