5.0 out of 5 stars Useful Text to Attract Young Readers, October 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Secrets of Martial Arts: An Isabel Soto History Adventure (Graphic Expeditions) (Graphic Library: Graphic Expeditions) (Paperback)
As the adventurous Isabel sets out to find out what is the "shadowless kick," she travels through space and time, as usual, and reveals the cultural and historical background of the different martial arts: karate, jujitsu, tae kwon do, and kung fu. She travels to Japan, Korea, and China at different historical times to get readers first-hand information about the topic.

Meant for young audiences, grade levels 3-4, the book is quite effective in presenting the story in an attractive manner that may motivate kids to read. This is not to mention that the subject covered in this text interests young readers (and perhaps readers of all ages). As usual it has its table of contents, glossary, index, and "more about..." sections that make this an appropriate complementary textbook. Five stars for Capstone Press for bringing up interesting topics.
