4.0 out of 5 stars Where do we "see" when on the astral?, November 18, 2009
This review is from: Secrets from Mt. Shasta (Paperback)
I lived for a year at the northern base of Mount Shasta. I heard many locals, including one of the mayors or Mount Shasta City, recount incredible tales regarding personal and unusual experiences upon and near the mountain. During the time that I lived there I had many vivid dreams of being within the mountain and being instructed in spiritual matters by spiritual masters. Of course, I half told myself that I was just being suggestible and having wish fulfillment fantasies. I moved away from the mountain and didn't give it anymore thought. Then, two years after the dreams, I walked into a bookstore and saw this short book. Out of curiousity, I picked it up and thumbed through the pages. As I saw three of the illustrations within the book, chills ran through me from my crown to my soul. I had seen those same places in my dreams. I had walked on those same steps, seen that same throne chair, dipped my hand in the water of that fountain. The illustrations could have been taken from my dreams.

I don't remember any of the Masters or teachers by name and can't say that what I dreamt included any well known spiritual beings. What I believe about that is that the experience of spiritual visions are colored by our own interpretations of the experience. So, if the Cheneys say they saw Jesus, I take it that they experienced an entity of love and teaching, then added their own religious beliefs in order to interpret their experience.

This would be similar to those who say they had a near death experience in which they were met by Jesus. You won't find any Muslims who say this, or Jews, or Buddhists. They will say they were met by Mohamad, or whatever diety they believe in. This is not to suggest that the experiences are false. I'm just saying that the Cheneys are telling of a true experience from their perspective and interpretation. They met spiritual beings who are in spirit form and who wish to teah us so that we may evolve. The book has real value in that it is an honest telling of a spiritual experience on Mount Shasta. All such experiences are of value in that they teach us of our path through this life and hint that we are more than mere mortal beings.

If you have had any kind of spiritual dreams, visions, intuitions, deju vu, or even just feel a strong curiousity regarding spirituality, then this book will probably interest you. If not, then go climb the mountain and enjoy its incredible physical beauty. It is still a wonderful and enriching experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Secrets from Mt. Shasta, February 29, 2008
This review is from: Secrets from Mt. Shasta (Paperback)
I love this book. Earlyne and her husband Robert (founders of Astara - a place of light, take a journey to Mt Shasta, requested by their spiritual teachers (Kuthumi and Rama). They are asked to fast for a couple of days prior to the journey and climbing the mountain is a test of faith for both of them. They reach a point on the mountain and are met by a guide who guides them inside the mountain, where they experience an form of fire initiation. This book is an easy read and a very enjoyable one for anyone interested in initiation and mt shasta. I also recomend Earlyne's book initiation in the great pryamid as it gives a really indepth insight into initiation.

3.0 out of 5 stars Women are decent writers of fairy tales for adults and children, July 18, 2008
This review is from: Secrets from Mt. Shasta (Paperback)
I anticipated this book for I heard far out incidents happen on Mt.Shasta, an ancient Indian holy ground. However, I read this story by Earlyne Chaney with one or two grains of salt. Her husband said in the Forword for others not to expect anything like that when you climb Mt. Shasta. That says it in a nutshell. Then in the introduction it reads others have been warned against such an effort to seek their own initation on Mt. Shasta. Not until 1980 did Earlyne receive a message to publish the story, "because the world has turned many times since 1952..." Now here they go she and her husband in 1952 to climb Mt. Shasta, they first seem to be driving up to 3000 m high to Panther Meadow. Any Alpinist knows that when you are up that high there is no heat sweltering, as she wrote, but it is rather cold. She repeatedly writes about the terrible heat, yet bringing a thermos bottle, in which Idosa, the being they met makes tea. Then astral happenings occur in a cave, believe it or not. Zoser, the ancient priest king of Egypt appears with the all seeing eye etc. It gets rather complicated, because the ancient Egyptians had no knowledge of Jesus. But in the astral world everything goes. The Eastern Star and Masonic Orders play a background on the chanting, twelve masters, the Hierophant as grand master, the altar when two more masters show up, Rama and Kuthumi, dipping their hands in oil and making the sign of the cross. Then of course in a holograph Jesus shows up. S/He didn't announce his name, but no doubt it had to be Jesus. Everybody knows that! The most legendary of all Hierophants, he never fails to show up...Or was it just an androgyne angel with no name, as angels don't have names or sexes. If it was an angelic entity...
Well at this point the reader cannot seperate facts from fiction, what goes on on the astral plane is beyond prove and falls into the realms of fairy tales. At 3000 m on any mountain however there is no sweltering heat, believe me, and if I was fasting for days, I would not be able to get up there in that sweltering heat...
