5.0 out of 5 stars Secrets & Mysteries of Hawaii--the only book I won't loan
I "stumbled" onto Secrets & Mysteries of Hawaii on my first trip to the Big island. I couldn't put the book down...read it in 2 days. I found it confirming of my own experiences on other islands and other trips to Hawaii; I found it breathtaking in its descriptions of the energies of the islands and the interconnectedness with the rest of the earth. I have told many...

3.0 out of 5 stars Only partially enjoyable.
I had recently returned from a trip to Hawaii when I stumbled upon this book. I spent my time on the Big Island for 5 weeks and on Kauai for 1 week. When I got back I fell into a bit of a depression and all I could think about was going back. I came to Amazon to look for books on moving to Hawaii and stumbled across this book. I bought it based on the reviews and was...

I have told many people about it. I have given copies to people...but my copy never is far from my side.

If you haven't been to Hawaii and want to know why it "pulls" so many, this is the book for you. If you are planning a trip to Hawaii, this is a "must read." If you have been to Hawaii, and know it is "home," this is also a "must read."

5.0 out of 5 stars This Book is a Gem, May 13, 2002

So many wonderful reviews about this remarkable book in regards to its magic, depth and humor have already been written.
I can agree with every single word, any reviewer has stated, completely.
Thus I would like to point out another special passage of Pila's guidebook which turned out to be a very touching message for my personal life. The "Call to the Soul" stepped into my world coincidentally before I went to Kaua'i, Hawaii, in order to meet Goddess Pele.
Amongst so many lines full of marvellous depth there were also these two sentences, since then decorating the wall of my apartment, saying:
"And all along the way of life there were only the three things that counted. Something to do, something to look forward to, and the third one, that blessing, if it ever happens... someone to share it with."
Each soul has its own yearning, every person is seeking individual truth.
Many magic things happened since I read this book. And they led me eventually to Pila's personal "Akashic Life Path Readings" which definitely changed my life!
I will reread this book and return to Hawaii soon...

5.0 out of 5 stars "We are not alone!", March 26, 2006
This review is from: The Secrets and Mysteries of Hawaii: A Call to the Soul (Paperback)
I visited the Big Island for the first time 11 years ago. The first morning's sunrise was an experience I'll never forget. I've been to the 50th State 11 times now, 9 of them to Kona. I thought it was just "silly me" until I read Pila's book. Some of his explanations may seem a bit "off-the-wall" but at least I have the consolation of knowing that I am not alone in having a profound mystical experience of "something more" in what has become for me truly "holy ground." For anyone who has ever visited Hawai`i and especially the Big Island and come away feeling that there was more than originally bargained for, this book is a "must read."

5.0 out of 5 stars Remarkable!, April 18, 2001

This book came into my life as a most timely coincidence. Now I know why I have been drawn to Hawaii for so long. I only wish that everyone who has ever had an inkling to visit the islands of paradise could read this wonderful book beforehand. If you are searching for answers, this little gem has more in it than just a great vacation. I have vowed to share it with everyone on Wall Street. Thank you 'Pila'! -C. MacPherson, Esq.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books I've ever read, September 1, 2003

Pila's book is a real calling to the soul. I have owned this book for seven years and still refer to it often. Pila has a way of getting to your heart and reminding you of things and a culture long forgotten. I finished this book in one reading. It really helped me thru my healing process. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in Hawaiian culture & history or anyone going thru their healing process. Although I have never been to Hawaii Pila has a way of making you think you have been there many times before. He also has a lot of insight into the human psyche. It's jsut such a great book I can't say enough about it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book on the "real" Hawaii I've ever read!, May 24, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Secrets and Mysteries of Hawaii: A Call to the Soul (Paperback)
This is a book to savor and let the information and feeling of real aloha sink in. After living in Hawaii for seven years this is the first book I've come across that catches the the magical, mystical essence of Hawaii accurately, and in true island style - with a balance of respect and humor.

Pila has his information down through study, homage to his teachers and direct experience. This is a book about much more than Hawaii for those that have eyes to see and perception to perceive beyond the words.

Pila brings the hidden stories of creation - ancient Hawaiian style - out for us to experience. Much of what he's talking about goes far beyond any particular race or place.

I have given this book as a gift and encouraged others to buy it, (I manage a bookstore). I've received wonderful feedback on same. It's deep, fun and interesting to read, the type of book one doesn't want to end.

This book is a blessing that can and should be read and experienced on many levels.

Aloha and blessings to you, Pila, for your gifts of Aloha and more.

5.0 out of 5 stars A travelers companion, for the journey home to the heart, March 7, 1999
By
This review is from: The Secrets and Mysteries of Hawaii: A Call to the Soul (Paperback)
I purchased this book a few weeks before I traveled to Hawaii, in 1997, and I felt as if reading it, prepared me for the energies and gifts of Hawaii. I knew when I arrived that I had arrived HOME, and I referred to the book, while I was there, for inspiration ,and confirmation. It is well written, and I recommend it highly, especially if you are planning a trip to any of the Hawaiian islands. I am returning there this summer, and am so glad I have it on my bookshelf to read once more. I know it will once again speak to my soul, just as Hawaii does. Aloha

Yhe book is "The Secrets and Mysteries of HawaiiY by Pila of Hawaii I wish everybody would be able to read and do the chants Pila presents in his book. They have certainly changed my life, and They will do the same for anyone who use them. I only wish I was able to get hold a recording of them, since I believe they will be even more powerful with the right music or tones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breathless, January 1, 2006
By
This review is from: The Secrets and Mysteries of Hawaii: A Call to the Soul (Paperback)
At times this book took my breath away. I had to put it down to fully absorb what I had just read and catch my breath again. I am going to the islands in a few weeks (my 5th trip in 5 years) and I guarantee I will bring this book and re-read it while there. It has been the answer to my question of what this call to the islands is all about. Wow.
