Secrets of Seduction was a fairy tale come to life and a delightful read for those who enjoy retellings of the classics. In this case...Beauty and the Beast...with an oh so cheerful and vibrant heroine in need of help from the grumbly and scared man she's been smitten with for most of her life. Ahh how I loved it!

I loved these two. Skye and Hawk are so opposite in ways but so fun together. She's an optimist and romantic at heart, determined and persistent. And, okay, a little manipulative. But not in a bad way. I loved how she was and how she was almost pure of heart in wanting to help others despite a horrible loss as a child that still gives her nightmares. She was just sweet and endearing and made me smile.

And Hawk. Lord help me but I love a broody hero that grumbles and is damaged. And Hawk is a man with some serious demons after losing his wife and child in a horrible fire years earlier and suffering physical injuries as well from trying to save them. He just wants to be left alone to wallow and and spend time saving others when he can.

And the man had absolutely no chance against a determined Skye. I loved that while they were so different in their outlooks they both struggled with some of the same things and as time went on were able to help each other heal. Parts absolutely made my heart clutch and had me in tears as they worked past them and others...had me chuckling or fanning myself because damn, yeah, these two despite their differences fit real nice.

The "mystery" was fun as well. I loved seeing how they pieced things together and found the woman Skye was looking for even though I didn't love the woman they sought--I really had a gripe against her and her actions but tried to not let that affect my enjoyment too much.

The thing that I love most about Secrets of Seduction is the development of the heroine, Skye. I must admit that in the beginning of the book, I didn't like the part of Skye that made her so skilled in manipulating Hawk, while being so sweet and seemingly thoughtful at the same time. This is precisely the vehicle that Nicole Jordan uses to show her mastery at character development. At the end of the book, I loved Skye more than any other character in this series. She has learned to put the needs of Hawk before her own, despite the heartbreaking consequences this could bring about for her and her hopes for a true fairy-tale ending.

I'm in love with the dark, brooding, scarred hero, Hawk. The depth of his emotional scars cause the reader to yearn for this Beast's potential happiness with the Beauty, Skye. Despite his rough exterior, his powerful sense of honor and loyalty and his softer, more tender side too, have made this my favorite hero of the Legendary Lovers series.

Overall this is a great read, including Jordan's trademark hot and passionate love scenes, which made it impossible to put the book down until the very satisfying finish.

Nicole Jordan combines two series in SECRETS OF SEDUCTION; the final book in her Paradise series and the third in the Legendary Lovers series. If you haven’t any books in these two series, don’t worry since it is not necessary to do so. While Jordan does mention a few events from books in both series, I don’t consider them to be huge spoilers.

I’ve been patiently waiting for the final book in Jordan’s Paradise series for a little over seven years. Imagine my delight when I heard Hawk’s story was finally being published and hoped it was worth the wait. Unfortunately, SECRETS OF SEDUCTION was a disappointment. When I started SECRETS, I came in with an open mind and if you’ve been a fan of Jordan’s work, then you know her writing style has changed. SECRETS for some odd reason didn’t feel as if it was written by Jordan. Overall, SECRETS OF SEDUCTION falls flat and I found myself skimming pages upon pages just to get to the ending.

As for character development, there’s not much there. Skye Wilde has been in love with Hawk since she first laid eyes on him as a thirteen year old. She’s described as the most charming of the Wilde family and the one to take the least chances. Skye decides to prove her family wrong by seducing Hawk. While, I admire her courage and her desire to help out a family member, I found her annoying. All her actions had a motive behind them and if Hawk felt she was scheming, in his shoes I would have thought the same thing. As for Hawk…the Hawk we get in SECRETS is a much different Hawk from those in the Paradise books and I longed to see that Hawk. I, myself, fell for the Hawk featured in those books and had a hard time warming up to this one. We have a few secondary characters that are featured and there’s a secondary romance.

SECRETS OF SEDUCTION is the third instalment in Nicole Jordan’s Legendary Lovers historical romance series focusing on the five Wilde orphaned cousins-Ashton, Jack, Skye, Kate and Quinn. The cousins have been raised by their bachelor ‘Uncle Cornelius’ and Skye is determined to find the missing piece in Cornelius’s life-a love that he lost so many years ago.

Each storyline is loosely based on a popular fairy tale or Shakespearean play. This is twenty three year old Lady Skye Wilde and the Earl of Hawkhurst ‘Hawk’s’ storyline-a Beauty and the Beast tale of lost love, forgiveness and letting go.

The focus of the storyline is on matchmaker and youngest Wilde-Lady Skye Wilde. Along with her cousin Kate, Skye has the uncanny ability to find love matches for each of her family members only this time she is determined to find the perfect match-for herself. Having set eyes on the Earl of Hawkhurst ten years earlier, Skye has dreamt of the day she could call him her own. But Hawk is several years older, a widower who lost his wife and child to a devastating fire, and a man who cannot forgive himself for their death. It is the fire that has left Hawk scarred-both inside and out-leaving a ‘beast of a man’ both in the physical and emotional sense. Skye will enter Hawk’s life under the ruse of asking for his assistance in finding a long, lost ‘friend’.

The premise follows Skye as she sets into motion her plans to seduce the man she has admired for over ten years. His life revolves around a ‘secret society’ of friends and Skye hopes to use these friends to assist in looking for her bachelor Uncle Cornelius’s long lost love. And along the way Skye is determined to show Hawk what it is he has been missing.
