Gerald W. Morton holds the title Distinguished Research Professor at Auburn University Montgomery in Alabama. He is the author of several academic books as well as fiction and young readers' books. He has also penned a novel based on his family heritage, Moonshine and Madness: An Appalachian Rhapsody.
