You need to buy this book if you love traveling!, November 10, 2009
This review is from: Secrets for Travel Survival: Overcoming the Obstacles to Achieve Practical Travel Fun (Paperback)
The practical and well written nature of this book puts any worry about fear of and traveling and the unknown at ease.
Mr.Ehmann gives everything from basic travel advice to very complicated, insightful advice which can be so helpful when traveling either for the first time or as a world traveler.
I would recommend his book to families, women traveling alone and business people who find they often travel to the more remote places and need a little extra information and direction.
I love that Mr.Ehmann is well traveled and an expert in security consultation for over 40 years.
A book that will be packed along with my tooth brush when I travel!

Don't go alone - Take this guy with you!, January 24, 2010
This review is from: Secrets for Travel Survival: Overcoming the Obstacles to Achieve Practical Travel Fun (Paperback)
I would love to travel with this man! This book will change your attitude toward the unknown and scary parts of traveling, especially to those parts of the world less popular with Western tourists. Ehmann has been to many of them and you will hear his reassurance and sage advice all through this book, putting you at ease and imparting a new attitude toward "foreign" places and people. The book is very much about attitude, and Ehmann has a wonderful attitude, eagerly meeting and engaging the wonderfully diverse people he finds overseas. He writes to help you find that joy as well, and reading the book is like going along with an older, wiser friend who has been there and knows when to be cautious and when to go with the flow and have fun.
The book is very practical as well. Woven into the fascinating travel tales are many specific tips on making your travel easier, safer and more enjoyable. Ehmann's guidance goes well beyond the usual magazine travel tips, just as his travel experience has obviously gone well beyond the usual resort and tour bus vacation. The book includes charts and details, as well as a bunch of web sites to give you the latest info, and fill in what would not fit in a small book.
Don't wait until you're on the plane to read it, though. You will want to make the most of his pre-travel planning and preparation ideas. If you're contemplating your first overseas trip, this book will be very valuable. If you travel a lot, I think you'll still find something new here. Highly recommended.

secrets for travel survival, November 25, 2009
This review is from: Secrets for Travel Survival: Overcoming the Obstacles to Achieve Practical Travel Fun (Paperback)
I have been traveling extensively (66 countries)for over fifty years. I found this book to be an excellent resource at many levels. First it is FUN READ. Ehmann has a superb wit, but not at the cost of content or relavency. He nonjudgementally helps the reader explore attitudes regarding travel. He extends grace to cultures of both the traveler's country of origin and the visited country. While he has extensive experience, his travel vignettes illustrate well the points he is making in addition to being great yarns in and of themselves. His country by country risk assessment of the Caribbean was a good exercise and fully substantiated by my experience.
There are many included web sites for further topical research.
Whether you are very travelled or a newbie, this is a must.
