a great introduction to science for an adult without the mat,

the concepts are clearly,step by step,explained. as an adult who has no background in science , this book has taught me the laws of motion;from newton to quantom. the basics of physics were well done. if an understanding of the ideas behind the science is what you seek then this is your book.

Good overview of scientific principles,

My sixth grade son was assigned this book and was reluctant to read it. After he settled into reading it, though, he kept at it and learned quite a bit. It isn't fancily illustrated or splashy in extra details, however, my son kept on talking about the speed of light and mass expanding (and other subjects in the book) long after finishing it. He now wants to read other science books which will give him more information about light and physics. To me, that is the sign of good book: if it peaks your interest and makes you want to explore the subject more.
