If you like Kung Fu, you will love this., December 28, 1998

This review is from: The Secrets of the Warrior's Power: Kung Fu [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video delves into the reasons that Chinese martial arts have survived and even florished for over 3000 years. With interviews and biographies of four modern day kung fu masters, this video is a must for anyone who loves kung fu. There is a certain myth and mystery to kung fu that those who don't know any better scoff at. For those who do know, this video is an affirmation of what one can accomplish with years of study and a true love for the art.

This was an excellent overview of the history of Chinese Kung-Fu with an emphasis on the development of the Shaolin systems of Northern China. As a long-time student of history, and kung-fu practicioner, I highly recommend this video.

A good introduction to kung fu, February 10, 2002
This review is from: The Secrets of the Warrior's Power: Kung Fu [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video is a documentary which introduces the viewer to the basic history and common knowledge of kung fu. For a martial artist, this video won't be very interesting because it is made for people who have no previous knowledge of kung fu, it intruduces them to the basic concepts of the art. In this video they discuss and explain chi, forms, weapons, the basic history of kung fu, different styles, etc.. There is lots of footage of people doing forms, and a few good clips of monks filmed at the Shaolin Temple. If you don't have any experience with kung fu, and you want to learn about it, or if you are just starting kung fu, I recommend this video. But if you already study kung fu and are familiar with it's basic concepts, this video will probably not be very interesting to you. I gave this video 4 stars because it was pretty informative and interesting, but some of the information was a little off.
