Book Description

1995
Secrets of the Sphinx is a revealing book that is subtitled The Mysteries of the Ages Revealed by Andrew Raymond. It points out that it is not the end of the world, but we can expect some very big seasonal changes.
The Giza Sphinx stands guard at the gates of a 25,800 year natural cycle known as the "Great Year", the "Platonic Year", or the "precession of the equinoxes" in a dictionary.

Using playful and friendly language, Andy Raymond explains this almost-forgotten cosmic process -- which was so important to our ancestors that they recorded it in countless myths and monuments, from the tarot deck to Stonehenge to the fundamental belief of all world religions.

Among the provocative revelations in this book:
You're not the astrological sign that you thought you were;
Earth is entering a period of enlightenment and turbulence as predicted by most prophets; Changing "seasons" in the Great Year does not mean the end of the world;
The chapter on foods can help you end disease, look younger, and handle the sun's increasing light at this time in the Great Year;
Comprehend why we are Dawning into the Age of Aquarius -- the water bearer in Revelation.
Understand how the stories of the "Sun and the twelve apostles" and the "Sun and the Twelve Constellation" have their roots in astronomy -- there is nothing new under the Sun, only repackaging.
Discover that Ezekiel's four cherubim (Man, Lion, Bull, and Eagle) are the four pillars of the twelve constellations in the heavens, and these symbols are found in many creation stories from Egyptian, Mayan, Hindu, and Babylon -- just to name a few.
The Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn should be renamed the Tropic of Taurus and the Tropic of Scorpio (also known as an Eagle).
The Haleakala Times review said: "An amazing act of synthesis. Raymond shines a bold and lighthearted floodlight on the muddy confusion of out times. This information should be taught in the elementary schools."

Secrets of the Sphinx is an uplifting experience and an easy book to read. You will be thinking about this publication long after you set it down!

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

This book is designed for the inquisitive person who is pursuing knowledge on all levels. It will provide the seeker of truth an insight into some of the shrouded and paradoxical mysteries of life. We will explore a few major pieces of the universal puzzle and discover how they fit together using the cycle of the great year as a base.
This work is designed to assist people who are trying to make sense out of the religious, astrological, or secular philosophies that they may have come in contact with as a part of their natural development. We will combine a few of the more popular philosophies with our scientific knowledge to help us comprehend the overall revelation that is enveloping our planet at this juncture in the great year.
One needs a basic understanding of our previous teachings in order to put them to rest. By perceiving the esoteric knowledge hidden within these myths, people will no longer be bound by the limitations of the stories themselves.
After years of searching for the meaning of life, I came upon some scientific truths that allowed me to perceive the interrelationships between science, religion, and mythology. Finally I could make more sense out of many of the different philosophies being expounded all around me.
This publication is my means of passing on these insights that come from sources more advanced than I. Sharing what information I have uncovered seems vital for me in this phase of my life.
I am not trying to be overly precise or technical in my use of dates and terminology, as there are hundreds of publications and sources of information available already on any specific area of interest this work may entice you to investigate. This material is designed to shed light and give each of us a renewed vitality in our own life's work.
At the least, this book should bring us to a point of communicating or disputing this kind of information intelligently. I only ask that you do it with love, as I am continually changing, balancing, and reorganizing my own beliefs with the information I am receiving from inside and outside myself.
Let us see what we can discover when we combine our data and look at it from a unique perspective.

About the Author

Born in 1942, Andy Raymond was raised and educated in rural, Vermont. At the age of 18, he headed for the beaches of California and worked as an electrician. By the age of thirty, his quest for enlightenment caused him to "get light" and return to college for four years.
Andy graduated from Sonoma State University in California using the name "Rainbow" on his diploma to leave a permanent mark on his record. He did this to remind himself of the bliss he was experiencing while pursuing the wisdom of the ages, for he knew his desires would draw him into the lower material planes again.
Ultimately, Andy's search brought him to Hawaii. For over twenty years, he conducted tours to some of the remote areas of Maui. On occasion, he would risk opening up to the tourists and sharing what he had learned about the workings of our solar system with its connections to our spiritual traditions.
Many of the tourists would inquire about sources for more information, and ask why he was not teaching in the universities. Andy would just grin like the Cheshire cat and reply: "Would you rather be by these waterfalls or under fluorescent lights in concrete buildings?"
The spiraling quest for knowledge and the acceptance of Andy's teachings by a majority of the visitors on his tours led to the birth of this book for all who want to know what was taught on the "Road to Hana".

5.0 out of 5 stars Returning to an Astrology that connects to the Universe., May 22, 2011

Western astrology is a shallow system that has divorced itself from any connection to the heavens apart from the planets. What it considers to be star signs are in fact nothing more than the seasons in the northern hemisphere. Astrology needs to reconnect to the galaxy and the stars. This book is a step on the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very concise and easy to understand summary of forgotten knowledge!, January 12, 2011
This review is from: Secrets of the sphinx (Paperback)
Just finished reading the book yesterday, could not put it down. The author is obviously well researched in history, astronomy and astrology and connects quite a few loose ends in these fields with surprising clarity. Even to the occult novice, this will be a very easy read, but perhaps one of the most informative. I find that most books in this genre tend to try and explain every little detail for every idea, if that's what you're looking for, then move on. If you're looking for a book that will lay out the actual secrets of the sphinx and the connection between the mythos of ancient civilization and the stars and what that means to us today, then this is the book for you!
