5.0 out of 5 stars Great board even for older guys, July 4, 2009
This review is from: Sector 9 Bamboo Haleiwa Complete 8.8 Sidewinder (Sports)
Ok I'm 42... haven't touched a board for nearly 20 years. Needed something to restart and that could hold my 180 pounds... well, this bamboo sector9 definitly did the job. It is not too long, making it practical enough to carry around, yet it is a real joy to ride, being a mix of longboarding and curving... High on the ground, it just keeping on rolling... feels a lot like water surfing, without the wipeouts !

I would say a great longboard in the old school spirit with all the benefits of new technology. And my kids love it too... Wouldn't trade it for the world !

Only regret (but it is very personal) : If it had been just a tad longer, it would be ideal to drag around just holding it by a truck in public places... I guess I can try to get shorter...

Smooth ride. Goes over bumps pretty well due to big, soft wheels. Cruised it around the city (downtown NY) and was able to maneuver traffic easily. Sidewinder capability makes turns a breeze to do. Clear grip tape gets dirty easily, but can be replaced and cleaned. Light and compact, easy to carry around. Highly recommended for short distance commute and recreational purposes.

First of all if u look on [...] u won't find the Haleiwa, instead u'll find the Ala Moana: a more expensive board that is exactly the same. where i live, some of the streets could use a little repaving so it isnt the smoothest ride on a normal board, but the Haleiwa's 69 mm 80a wheels take care of it. i hardly feel the road under me. I feel that they could have put abec 7 bearings instead of 5 because bigger wheels means a bit more of a drag, and im thinking of upgrading. but if u dont notice a difference, its great the way it is. downside ( a lot of my friends say it is anyway) is the lack of a tail, which means no tricks, but thats not what this board is for. when i carve on this board it feels like im taking a run at Squaw Valley or Sugar Bowl on my snowboard, or when i go around a corner at just the right speed, it feels like im in the tube at OB. the grip tape is amazing as well, it keeps my feet where they need to be, clear is the way to go. the sidewinder trucks are impressive on their own, let alone with a board like this. the double king pin design keeps the wheels on the ground even through the sharpest of turns. this is the perfect board for cruising especially if theres a bit of down hill, and when u get this board, which is made from bamboo u help the environment by riding a weed instead of a tree. According to sector 9, bamboo can grow 4 feet a week, which is a lot more than maple can. if u get this board u wont regret it, its near perfect.
