5.0 out of 5 stars Carving the Flats, January 21, 2011
This review is from: Sector 9 Reflections Sidewinder S1 Longboard Complete (8X33.5) (Sports)
I searched high and low for a review of this board before buying. No Dice!! Well, I took a chance after reviewing similar boards in the Sector 9 line-up. I am happy to say that my gamble paid off. This board, in my opinion, is a flawless specimen of fun. You probably know the tech specs, so I won't bore you with that. Out of the box, this is a sleek, beautiful board. The die-cut grip tape of top is immaculate and neatly done. The bottom board graphic is sharp looking too.

The Gullwing Sidewinder Truks stand out proudly underneath. Some comments were made about the height of the ride due to the Sidewinders, spacer, and bottom mount config. I felt no problem with the height. My foot pushes were as normal as any other boards I've ridden. The board also propelled well with the use of my Kahuna Big Stick. As anticipated the Sidewinder's turn radius can hardly be beat. I was hooking tight turns and circles in my rather narrow driveway. I was able to tilt the board radically either direction with no wheel bite.

The wheels (Red Sector 9 69mm, 80a) are very wide and seem to grip well. The included bearings roll fast, smooth, and quiet. The board has a comfortable flex for me as a 200lb rider. The kicktail is great and will offer some ability for tricks or avoiding obstacles. It also gives you the ability to shift your foot placement while always knowing where you're at on the board. It handled the gnarly asphalt on my street quite well. In the smooth areas it floated with great speed. In the rough areas it maintained good momentum and the Sidewinders + flex helped absorb some of the teeth rattling vibration.

Overall, this is a fine looking rig that is very agile and fast. It supports heavier riders well, and turns any flat surface into a carving playground thanks to the Sidewinders. This board is definitely a keeper for me.
