This replaced a T-Fal deep fryer I'd had for many years, and even when it was brand new, the T-Fal couldn't compare to this amazing deep fryer. One third the time to finish twice as many french fries. This is by far the best small kitchen appliance I've ever purchased. And the price was very reasonable on Amazon, even better than e-Bay, especially knowing the product is brand new in original packaging. This was actually a birthday present for my husband since we share cooking duties, and the first time he used it the french fries were done before the steaks were off the grill. Before this deep fryer, he had to start the first batch while the coals were still getting hot. Now he figures the prep time differently. We both love this amazing deep fryer!

Had this deep fryer a little bit over 1 year. It is an amazing fryer!! on the first time we used it one thing that we immediately noticed was it is a very powerful appliance. oil bath heats up very very fast. When we fry, we do not want to leave it unattended. If you plug in the power and got distracted, it may cause some accident. This deep fryer has automatic shup down, so we do not worry about that it might burn dry. But still, it will waste energy in case you pulg in, leave the heat on and forgot it. This fryer is so fast, we do not have to wait for a long time waiting for the oil to boil, it saved us a lot of time.
The timer and temp. control are very easy to use, but if you want accurate control over time and oil temp there is a digital model too, hope you find this helpful.

I recently purchased the Triple Basket Electric Deep Fryer . I love that it has three baskets and it also
has a lid that fits over the fryer while cooking. I used the larger basket to fry my chicken wings. The basket could hold 5 extra large wings (not wingettes) comfortably and I used one of the smaller baskets to fry the French fries which could hold a pretty good amount. The way the fryer browned the food was beautiful and the food was delicious. When I poured the oil back into its container after using the fryer I could see that very little of the oil was used which was great. When it was time to clean the fryer I liked that the entire fryer comes apart which makes cleaning a breeze and all the parts go back together without any problems. I am happy I purchased this fryer.

Following the instructions to make french-fries [temp and filtering instructions] 3x, there has been nearly NO oil loss...I'm not suggesting that frying is 'healthy', but with SO little oil getting into the food, I feel better about using my new fryer [probably most of the change has been 'good/not perfect' temp control, but I'm just speculating].

Using cottonseed-oil/following the time-temp/filtering instructions, for 3 batches, I haven't actually observed an oil-loss [I didn't fair so well using the skillet...first-off, I was lucky to use the oil a second time, but more related to the oil-consumption/saturation of what I was cooking...it was substantially greater (I don't remember the totals for fries, but for battered foods, I considered myself fortunate if foods absorbed 1/3 cup of oil, for 3 Real servings).

I went a little 'fry crazy' just after it arrived 'stepped-away from the fryer, for a couple weeks, but will probably use it again tomorrow [the fried sweet-potatoes (night before last), were pretty-good, but the Secura instructions/mixed with "The Joy of Cooking" french fry receipe yields sweet-potato fries that were a 'touch overdone' (for my taste)...still not greasy, but the timing, or the whole-thing needs to be over-hauled for sweet-potatoes.

Back to the frier...don't rely on the MFG, or 'other' suggestions as-to how long it'll take to pre-heat...it takes as long as it takes [maybe my oil 'starts' below the expected temp, and that would understandably impact reaching the desired temp, so I guess that I'm just reminding you that, it's not miraculous...1700 watts will only heat your 'chilled/thickened oil' according to the laws of physics [or some other scientific principle which I avoided in HS and College]...cooler oil will take longer to reach temp]...wait for the Secura to reach temp, it's worth it!

First thing I noticed is the baskets seem rather . . . flimsy. But then again, I've never had any other home deep fryers so that might well be par for the course. I liked the temperature dial, and the "heat" light goes off when the oil is at temp. The control bar and the heating element slide off leaving easy access to the tank of oil. The tank itself is easily removed. You can easily pour it out and strain the oil for future use. The plug was clever, it's held in by a magnet so if you knock over the fryer, it will become detached so you'll only have to deal with spilled oil, not electrified spilled oil.

One thing that was a tad annoying, is there are two half moon "filters." The instructions suggest you replace the white and black carbon filters every 12 months. They don't tell you how to find new ones. There is no order form for replacement baskets. There isn't even any mention of the name of the manufacturer in the instructions, let alone a phone number or e-mail address to contact customer service should you need it.

This is a descent deep fryer with all the basic functions but very necessary functions. A timer is the critical function on a deep fryer. It stops heating when the time ends, really helpful by giving you an ease of mind. It heats up a big bowl of grease reasonably fast and 3 baskets have the job done fast as well.

I really regret having to grade this fryer so low, because, overall, it works very well. Unfortunately, it has a dangerous design flaw. The frame, which holds the oil pan, etc. Is made of thin sheet steel. This steel is folded under at a right angle. Aside from corners where the feet of the fryer are located, the edge of the steel is completely exposed. This a really big deal since the sheet steel is so thin - I swear it is nearly as sharp as a kitchen knife.

Well, since you cook with oil in this appliance, you'll definitely be washing this exterior frame, most likely by hand. I did and guess what?I slashed two of my fingers fairly badly.

So, be warned. This product, if not handled very carefully, can be quite dangerous.

For over 2 years this deep fryer works great. The heater is powerful and controls temperature accurately. It does everything supposed to and I think that makes it a 5 star product.

We keep this deep fryer in our stationary camper. It is awesome! Anything from bloomin onions to the fish we catch, and of course don't forget the grandkids & their french fries (or whatever their daily craving is.) It is very easy to use & love the baskets. We know it's a safety thing, but wish the cord were a little longer because we use it outside nearly all the time & outside outlets aren't as convenient to reach as the ones over your counter. That's our choice so we have learned to accommodate our need. We would buy another of these if there were a need as they are perfect with the separate baskets or of course the option of one large one. Enjoy!!
