I've had bean bag holders before. This one is heavy and very adjustable. It has two little fold out bases on which your device will rest, so that your device will not slip out of the adjustable side rubber-like grips that hold it in place. No need to worry about any damage to your device since the holder is well padded with a rubber-like non-slip surface. I have a...

Purchased this for a Droid X. The phone fits well.. and would easily adapt to other phones. I have a micro 90 degree usb cable to connect to a car charger and it fits... a straight micro usb connector forces you to rotate the phone up at a drastic angle. Making it un-usable. I have a motorola Droid and it fit...no problem. I can easily pick my Droid out of the cradle to answer the phone. Actually, you could use it for a much larger or much smaller device. It even holds my little iRiver which is only 2 3/4 x 1 7/8. The bean bag & holder itself is a larger presence on the dash than I would have liked and debated giving it only 4 stars. With the Droid in the holder it measures just about 6 inches wide. A window attachment would be less bulky, but then I have never had any luck keeping a window attachment on a windshield so I am happy with this.

Purchased this for a Droid X. The phone fits well.. and would easily adapt to other phones. I have a micro 90 degree usb cable to connect to a car charger and it fits... a straight micro usb connector forces you to rotate the phone up at a drastic angle. Making it un-usable. Using in a Honda Accord with a very flat, textured dash.... was like a puck on an air table. Seems like the bean bags are too full and doesn't allow the pad to form to the dash. Wound up putting a coating of silicon on the base. Now it works. It is fairly perpendicular to the dash... but not much adjustment after the phone is in place. Almost as if the little leg supporting the clamp mechanism needs to be a little longer so that the phone will clear the bean bags...

Anyway... if you don't mind "fixing" it before you use it... it's ok. Was just expecting it to work out of the box like the Garmin friction mount did. Might also attempt to take some of the beans out so that it has more clearance for the phone as well as forms to the dash better.

If you are looking for a dash top holder for your phone.GPS, you need not look any further than this. I've had mine for a month and give it a solid 4 stars. Here are some pros & cons.

Pros - will securely hold my Moto Driod to the dash by it's weight alone. It does not slide or jiggle off on bumps.
- The rubber coated clamps hold the phone securely.
- It will hold the phone vertical or horizontal.
- You can plug in the car charger cord while using it
- fairly good range of adjustment for tilt angle and height.
- I keep a Body Glove case skin on my phone always and this does not limit the functionality of the SecureHOLD.
- It should work for most GPS devices and other phones as well

Cons - You need a relatively flat dashboard area. Mine is flat on top, sloping forward near the edge(Lexus). On my old Nissan Maxima, it is lss secure because the entire dash slopes forward and there is no flat spot.
- When holding the phone horizontal, the adjustment knob for opening and closing the holding clamp in difficult to reach on the bottom of the device. If I reverse the phone direction (flip it upside down) then I can't plug in the charger cord. However, once you find a good position there is almost no adjustment necessary to mount or dismount your phone.
- the support arm that supports the clamp above the base has a click type detent to set it's position. It is secure enough to hold the phone in position now but I wonder if there may be wear & tear later which would make it malfunction.
- some extreme angles or positions make it difficult to attach the support arm to the clamp - this is done by putting a pin on the arm through a slot on the back of the clamp.

Overall I like this holder very much and would recommend it. It works very well for my needs and some of the cons listed above are either hypothetical or easy to work around.

This item is great so far. Not only is it heavy and works with differant type devices (as its adjustable) as a dash mount, I use it for a docking station while using DockRunner on my Driod. It works great.

I did have to modify the holder. The weights do not allow for easy hooking up of a power cord. So I cut a hole in the left front "hump", removed the weight bag, and sowed it shut again. Now it is no problem hooking up a power cord on the left side of my Droid while its mounted. Perfect now. It really should come this way, with a space designed for placing a power cord to whatever device you use.

Great item.

The weighted bottom is relatively small and located very close to the holder. If the dashboard isn't relatively large and flat, the weights get pushed upward and you won't be able to position your Droid so that its screen is at all visible to the driver. It did not work at all with my RAV4.

One thing about it. It will stay put. After that, not much good. Hard to insert my Motorola Droid. Then it doesn't stay. The locking mechanism at the bottom is awkward to use. If I try to leave the power cord plugged in, the phone falls out. All-in-in, I would not recommend it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Warning for Droid X owners, September 4, 2010

Buyer beware for Droid X owners. It does hold the phone but it does not accommodate the phone when plugged into my car charger. The bean bag feet are directly under the charger leaving no room for a plug and cord. I basically have the right side of the phone supported by the plug and the left side slumps down.

Works as advertised. A minimal problem is that the holding pad can constantly press the on/off button on my Motorola Droid. I just adjusted the phone so that it is being held by only two of the four brackets. I'm using it mainly in my RV which has a large flat dash. It only moved a bit when I drove on dirt roads. I would expect it to work with little movement as long as your dash is relatively level and/or you don't have a real stiff ride that allows for a lot of vibration.

2.0 out of 5 stars Neck not long enough to position my Droid upright, August 9, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: SecureHOLD Auto Dash Friction Mount for HTC , Motorola , Samsung , iPhone and Many Other Smartphones (Electronics)
I wanted a beanbag holder, because I have one for my stand-alone GPS unit and love it. But this one doesn't work as well. The neck isn't long enough, so you can't angle the Droid upright to see it clearly as you're sitting and driving. I'll keep it and put a towel under the back part of the beanbag to angle it better. This isn't ideal for safety, though. Also, I really had to struggle to get my Droid, which has a case, into the holder. The longer side, which is controlled by a dial, was fine, but the narrower side didn't seem to open wide enough. I finally squished it and it seems to fit.

2.0 out of 5 stars Depends on the car, August 5, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: SecureHOLD Auto Dash Friction Mount for HTC , Motorola , Samsung , iPhone and Many Other Smartphones (Electronics)
As mentioned in other reviews, if your dashboard is high, you cannot easily tilt the holder down far enough to get a straight-on view of your phone. The bean bags prevent the holder from tilting down far enough for this. On my RAV 4, I basically have to wedge the bean bags between the driver's instrument panel and the central dashboard radio area, with one of the bean bags partially obstructing the left-center AC vent and the other front bean bag sort of partially dangling in the air. You can place the phone further back on the dashboard at it's normally more-horizontal angle, and you can still see it, but the angle makes the phone display more subject to reflection, and the phone display will reflect more from the inside of the windshield, which can sometimes be distracting, especially at night. This also makes it harder to reach the buttons or touch-panel on the phone.
