The D-Ring Difference,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: SecureLine 6315 15-Foot Ratchet Tie Down, Red (Tools & Home Improvement)
These are far superior to tie-down straps without the D-ring. The D-ring allows the end of strap to hook to itself. For me, one instance is with the rooftop rack on our FJ Cruiser. The rack bar is too thick for a strap hook to grab onto. So I wrap the hook end of the strap around the bar, and hook it to the D-ring.There are many applications where this capability is a real plus. One other advantage is that because I don't have to wrap the strap all the way around the load, so one end can hook onto the other end, it's possible to use the entire length of the strap to secure a large load. To me it makes no sense to buy a ratchet strap without the D-rings. I have other straps, and I'm probably going to buy a couple of those screw-together chain links, and use them as though they were D-rings.
