nice light read. quick and whimsical. and the price was right. it did leave open a door for a followup

I am a long time fan of Poul Anderson, and would have liked to read this story. However this Kindle version is pretty much unreadable and so I don't recommend buying it, even at only $0.99. The problem is that whoever released it as an ebook left the original word wrap in place at the end of each sentence and since the Kindle has a different size than printed copy, the effect is that each line of the original book comes out as its own paragraph, making it very hard to read. Also, some of the punctuation (quotes, for example) are just "_" (underscore) characters.

I downloaded the sample and it looks like it is formatted much better.

Poul Anderson is one of my very favorite science fiction writers, and he is the author of many outstanding novels and short stories. This, alas, is not one of them. I found the plot to be highly predictable and the storyline flat and uninspiring. A disappointment.
