They make it sound so good but the software sucks, especially the record schedule setup and the usb backup process. The motion detection of the unit sucks too. The manual is no help, you have to guess at what the Chinese English is trying to tell you. I purchased a recommended 8 gig USB stick for the backup and the system only recognised it the first time. It took over 45 minutes to backup about 9 hours and when I put it in my pc and ran their file viewer software, all i had was 4 blue boxes and about 4 minutes of video. Since then all I get are messages saying the file size is too big (even though it's way less than 8gig) or fail to read file system. Reformating didn't solve anything. I'm so fed up. I want to drop kick this thing all the way back to china!!

Oh, btw, there's no way to remove the files from the HDD either. The system settings for 'disk full' is, stop recording OR overwrite files. What kind of crap is that?

THIS DVR IS NOT EASY TO USE. IF YOU HAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH SURVEILLANCE PURPOSED DVR'S , STEER CLEAR OF THIS ONE. THE MENUS ARE NOT INTUITIVE OR EVEN LOGICAL IN SOME CASES. THE REMOTE CONTROL RELIES HEAVILY ON UP/DOWN & LEFT/RIGHT FUNCTIONS BUT SELECTED FUNCTIONS DO NOT RELIABLY DRAW CONSISTENT RESPONSES FROM THE DVR. FOR EXAMPLE, YOU CLICK UP OR DOWN TO SCROLL UP OR DOWN THE MENU ON THE SCREEN AND THE DVR RESPONDS AS IF YOU CLICKED LEFT OR RIGHT RESULTING EITHER PUTTING YOU INTO ANOTHER MENU WHICH YOU DIDN'T MEAN TO SELECT, OR BUMPING YOU OFF THE LIST COMPLETELY, FORCING YOU TO START THE PROCESS OVER. VERY FRUSTRATING!

works great--can't beat the price-- I don't get the complaints about the instruction manual-- it's not exactly rocket science! Unless you are completely technology illiterate, you should be able to work through this in a breeze.

After reading the above reviews I was skeptical to buy this piece of equipment. But after recieving it and following the directions for installation. I found that it wasnt difficult at all to understand or to use. I am really satisfied. And I would recommend it to anyone.
