5.0 out of 5 stars At it again.
Mr. Herren shows us once again, he is at the top of his game. You could say this album is a lot like a Delarosa and Prefuse merge. Songs like Keeping Up With Your Quota, Weight Watchers, Creating Cynical Headaches & With Dirt and Two Texts (Later Version...) offer a slightly new Prefuse style while songs like Matrimonoids bring us back to the One Word days. 3.0 out of 5 stars B side vibe

SS comes replete with schizzy examples of why the instrumental hip-hop producer was so initially intriguing, but the whole thing can't help but exhibit a disconnected and incomplete package.

Not many people liked "Surrounded By Silence", I personally thought it was very good. This cd is very different from the rest; visually and emotionally. You can definately assume Herren makes music visually. Time being his canvas, Sound being his medium. This album, like Herren's others, are for a specific crowd of music listners.... I don't see why people were turned off by his last album having many "guest appearences". Are people afraid of collaboration? Just listen to Herrens music and you'll hear what he feels. Listen to each of his prefuse albums one after the other, you'll hear the evolution of Prefuse's style. I like to see things evolve.

I am never disappointed by each new song that this man produces, not to mention the album as a whole, and the order in which he puts all these tasty morsels. Not a huge departure from what we're all familiar with, however, he appears to be leaning more toward the melodic and songstyling over the expermental noise drops - I think he's got that down pat! All good.

4.0 out of 5 stars LXIII is 63, not 73, February 26, 2006

This album is good, but not as great as some of his previous works under the Prefuse moniker or otherwise. Unlike many, I felt Silence was a great album, and received too much flak for not being Extinguisher Pt. 2 (3 if you count Extinguished).

I must admit I didn't get "Creating Cyclical Headaches," which I feel is almost unlistenable, save for the bits at the beginning and very end; which is too bad because I nearly jumped out of my skin with excitement when I saw that it was a collaboration with Four Tet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Prefuse 73 - Security Screenings, May 5, 2011
This review is from: Security Screenings (Audio CD)
After the more lyric-heavy _Surrounded By Silence_, Prefuse 73 returns to his roots somewhat with _Security Screenings_, with a slight post-rock twist (as if the appearance of Kieran Hebden on the squeal-heavy "Creating Cyclical Headaches" wasn't a hint). "With Dirt and Two Texts" adds some feedback fuzz into the musical fray and reappears later in a slightly less abrasive mix, while "Keeping Up With Your Quota" fills the air with its layers. "Another One Long Gone" slides along with fluttering vocal samples and a chunky bassline. There are a few head-scratches, as well: "No Origin" seems all over the place, never quite comfortable with itself, and the wobbly "Mud in Your Mouth" doesn't quite gel. But "Matrimonioids" gets things back on their feet quite ably.

I agree with D. Davidson, though i like the song "creating cyclical headaches." I thought this album was good, it was nice to hear some new prefuse, but at the same time i found it to be closer to his Savath + Savalas, which wasn't really what i was expecting. It would have been better if he had just released the album under that name cause it does go alot better with it. I also liked Surrounded by Silence, i didn't even know there where people who didn't, sure their wasn't alot of just him songs, but the ones that were, were fantastic.

my 2 favorite songs on this album have to be track 4 and 13, the other tracks are good but there really isn't anything memorable about them.
