I purchased this Kit from Smarthome.com via Amazon and I am disappointed. I was looking for a straight forward solution to provide visual surveillance to my front yard. A wired system was not an option for me, but at the price of $200.00 I thought this would work just fine. Problem is, they did not design this well for outdoor use. In fact, you don't find out until you read the instruction book that the Microphone is "not weatherproof, for indoor use only". Not sure how they can advertise this as an outdoor camera when an important option if not functional. Second major issue (which I didn't catch) is that the camera is not battery operated and needs to be plugged in to a power source. This wouldn't be such a problem if they gave you more than a couple of feet of cord for the camera. The power jack is only inches away from the camera so it is exposed to the weather (I taped it up once I ran the wire through the wall). What good is a camera that someone can simply unplug...not sure that's such a good design for security. Finally, and the most annoying is that the reception is not good. The camera is only 10 feet (less than 4 yards) from the receiver (through the wall) and the receiption is poor. The only time it worked clearly was when I had the camera a couple of feet from the receiver without going through a wall. This isn't the answer and not worth the money. I will try to get a refund from Smarthome/Amazon. Any problems with that will be updated in this review.

I bought this camera on line for $125.00 that also includes shipping. I read all reviews and information on the camera and thats why i bought it. I finaly got the camera and set it all up and viewed it on my tv to see how it looks, I was so angry on the quality of the video I called the store for a refund, they told me "no, not on electronics" My web cam that i paid $40.00 has a better quality video than this junk. The audio even sucks it has a hissing sound, I had to turn the volume down on the tv to not hear it. I will never, never again buy this type of camera and also will not recomend it. Don't waste your money!!!!
