A must for fans of the "old" Nightwish..., December 18, 2009
The old Nightwish being the time when Tarja was their lead singer. I've seen a lot of reviews of female fronted rock/metal bands that claim that they sound like Nightwish, Within Temptation, Epica, and Evanesence, etc, but in this case it's true! I didn't pay much attention to this album when it first came out, but it has grown on me over time, as the "old" Nightwish fades into history. The song melodies are driven by the keyboards and not the guitars most of the time, and the lead singer is an alto or mezzo- soprano, similar in sound to Tarja but without her power. There are a few weaker songs, but I'd say 7 out of 10 are strong efforts. Overall a pretty good debut effort.
