1.0 out of 5 stars This book was ridiculous, June 23, 2010
This review is from: To Seduce a Texan (Zebra Historical Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I can hardly believe that anyone could give this book any stars at all. This book was redundant and silly to the extreme. Do not waste a single dime on this book. The author repeated herself numerous times and at one point I thought the chapters may have been mixed up because after Rosemary had been kidnapped for days the kidnappers said "what will we do with her tonight. Maybe she can sleep in the loft." Which is what she had been doing for the past 3 days. Please just stay away from this book!

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed Again!!, March 3, 2009
This review is from: To Seduce a Texan (Zebra Historical Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I have at least half of Ms. Gentry's books, and I have loved all of them except for her last two books. Story lines are good and I like the humor. But. . . the dialogue is choppie, repetitive and down right annoying. I only made it through half the book before I finally had to give it up as a lost cause. Sad thing is I've always considered Ms. Gentry a very good author!! However she is now writing like Bobby Smith, and I quit buying Ms. Smith's books for the same reason!!

3.0 out of 5 stars An intersting read..., November 9, 2009
This review is from: To Seduce a Texan (Zebra Historical Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Rosemary Burke, a lady born, is finally going home to Kansas. In mere weeks, she will be 21 and will be in control of her future. Rosemary isn't foolish enough to believe that a man will fall in love with a plain, over-weight girl, so she plans on taking care of herself by running her father's bank. There's just one problem with that - her step-father is currently managing the bank and will not turn it over to her without a fuss.

Waco, Will McCain, is a Confederate soldier who is in a heap of trouble. The only way to save his, and his friends', necks is to come up with a large sum of money. He sees the rich, spoiled Rosemary as his ticket out of the mess he's currently in. By kidnapping her, he hopes to gain a hefty ransom from the girl's step-father. Imagine his surprise when the man doesn't respond to the ransom note at all.

By taking a few facts from the history books, Ms. Gentry has created an original tale unlike any I have read before set in the Civil War time period. While the war is mentioned throughout the book, the emphasis is more on the relationship between Rosemary and Waco. With feisty, loveable characters and an intriguing storyline, To Seduce A Texan is sure to capture your interest. Whether you like the old west or not, you'll fall in love with Waco and his band of friends - men of integrity and honor, even when keeping their word may jeopardize their very lives.

My hat's off to Ms. Gentry for creating yet another fabulous story. As Waco would say, well done ma'am.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing, March 30, 2009

This review is from: To Seduce a Texan (Zebra Historical Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I picked this book up because the back cover sounded very inviting, however I found this book to be anything but. It was very boring. The hero's dilalog was not what a hero should sound like at all. He may have been very attractive and manly but as soon as he opened his mouth you wish he would have kept it shut. He and his buddies sounded very ignorant and uneducated. I really got tired of hearing all about how fat the heroine was. I skimmed the book only because I wanted to see how they eventually got together, no other reason. I recommend not to buy this book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Misses the mark, January 21, 2009
This review is from: To Seduce a Texan (Zebra Historical Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
The book had all of the elements of a classic western historical romance, but the author missed the mark. The speech patterns chosen by the writer for the lead male character, Waco, and his cohorts made them seem ignorant and uneducated instead of charming and endearing. It almost seemed like I was reading about the Beverly Hillbillies or the Keystone Cops. The female lead, Rosemary, was an annoying and unlikeable character and I found myself wishing that they really would just go ahead and do away with her just to keep her quiet. There were a few humorous moments, but they were short-lived and were not enough to compensate for the weak and unbelieveable plot. I am a regular reader of western romance and this was the first book I've read from this author. I believe it will also be the last.

2.0 out of 5 stars A big disappointment, January 19, 2009

This review is from: To Seduce a Texan (Zebra Historical Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I really wanted to like this book based on the plot. By reading the back cover one would think the book would be full of adventure. "Waco" kidnaps "Rosemary" in order for father to pay a fifty thousand dollar ransom since they couldn't rob the bank.

The book however drug on and was quite boring. The relationship between the h/h was also quite dull. I didn't even read the last thirty pages because I was so bored with the couple and the plot.
