The first book was THE ROGUE AND THE HELLION, released in June 2002. In this story we still have two delightful rogues left, Ram and Luc.

Ramsey Dunsmore, Earl of Braxton, used to spy for the English government. When the Foreign Office requested his help in the search for a priceless amulet that had been stolen from Egypt, he agreed because of personal reasons.

Sir Andrew Thompson was an Egyptologist. He and his daughter, Phoebe, had been collecting artifacts in a newly opened tomb in Egypt when they found a valuable amulet. It disappeared shortly afterward and the Egyptian government was demanding its return. Officials thought Lord Thompson stole it. Unless it was recovered quickly, communications between England and Egypt would crumble.

The last thing Phoebe wanted was for Ram to show up in her life again. her father had been kidnapped the instant he set foot upon the English docks. She and David Phillips, her father's assistant, had been searching everywhere for him. The abductors demanded the amulet in exchange for her father. However, Phoebe did not have it. They never stole it! She did NOT believe Ram had really forgiven her for what she had done to him four years ago, so she knew he wanted SOMETHING, but now was not a good time for him to reenter her life.

***** Once again author Connie Mason has proven herself to be tops in the field of Historical Romance. This book caught me on the very first page and made me miss breakfast AND lunch because I could not stop reading. I had to know what would happen next! Trust me, you DO NOT want to miss out on this story. Highly recommended!

This book was terrible, mostly because of the grating and not-too-bright Phoebe. With a missing necklace and two men in her life, one of which is a traitor, she finds she has to choose which one to trust.

One man always knows what is going on before Phoebe (or anyone else) tells him, and always demands that she tell him where the necklace is. When she says she doesn't know, he doesn't believe her and instead grabs her roughly. He shows 0 concern for her missing father and stops her from seeking help with the authorities.

The other man does everything in his power to protect the ungrateful Phoebe, showing repeatedly that he is concerned about her father and trying his hardest to find him. He also saves Phoebe's life more than once.

Of course, Phoebe blindly places her faith in the first guy, despite all evidence to the contrary. Then she proceeds to be incredibly mean to the other man and refuses to listen to anything he has to say (though everything he has to say is obviously common sense). I really don't know what he saw in her.

As for the plot, it was transparent and contrived. The traitor, as mentioned before, was hardly a surprise. Neither were any of the other "twists". Everything was predictable, and the sex scenes were all exactly the same. The characters were entirely forgettable (I had to check to see what Ram's name was).

I bought this book at an airport to read on the plane, and I think I could have better spent the money on candy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Certainly steamy enough!!, March 19, 2005

Wow this one was to die for in the bedroom - and almost every other room too!! Phoebe and Ram had a past that had for once left the man the rejected one - which sent Ram into a life of debauchery and he wanted nothing to do with Phoebe ever again. So he finds himself by order of the Crown forced back into her life. Thinking of course that he will be able to keep his lust in check, well that lasted about one day. This couple was hot and the mystery surrounding the amulet made for a good backdrop to unravelling their feelings and possibly learning to trust one another. For this couples biggest problem was lack of trust. My only reservation on 5 stars would be the reason Phoebe left him 4 years earlier- David Phillips just came off to much as a scoundrel to ever seem to be able to influence Phoebe to leaving the man she loved. But alls well that ends well and this ended quite well - looking forward to Luc 's story now - what will London women do without the 3 Rogues??

3.0 out of 5 stars Predictable but...it's still Connie Mason ;-), May 16, 2003

This review is from: Seduced by a Rogue (Mass Market Paperback)
Book 2 of The Rogues of London series by Connie Mason introduces us again to Ramsey Dunsmore, Earl of Braxton. The Foreign Office has called upon him for his help in finding a valuable amulet that the Egyptian government wants back. In order to avoid an international political disaster, he is enlisted to seduce Phoebe Thompson in order to find out where the amulet is.
Phoebe Thompson, who has only recently returned to London after 4 years in Egypt, is desperately searching for her Egyptologist father who is missing. Not only that, he is being accused of taking the amulet.

SEDUCED BY A ROGUE does not have a prologue and it is desperately in need of one. There is a lot that has happened that the reader has to catch up on quickly, without the benefit of knowing these characters and why it is likely they might have fallen in love with each other in the first place. Ramsey and Phoebe were married four years ago, but they only shared one night of marital bliss before their entire relationship comes crashing down around them. A close friend convinces Phoebe that Ramsey is a womanizer and she leaves him immediately to go with her father to Egypt, not to return until 4 years later.

The story is very predictable, and the characters very one-dimensional. It's light and fun reading, but there are no surprises here. Without the benefit of a prologue or backing the story up four years, much of the development of this couple is missing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the paper it was printed on!, May 31, 2003

The heroine of this book annoyed me. I can't believe Connie Mason could not come up with a better reason for Phoebe leaving Ramsey! The reason she left him was stupid, and the fact that she did leave him over it was even more stupid. If she really loved him like she said why did she not confront him and demand an explaination? She just decides to leave and never look back. And the trust she put in David, it astounds me that anyone could be this stupid! I have not read a book this lousy in a long time, and believe me I have read a few. The Rouge and the Hellion I thought was bad, but this book takes the cake. I am a huge fan of Connie Mason but this book..... The plot was predictabale. I don't see what Ramsey saw in Phoebe at all. She was spineless, selfish, and a coward. I hate when author's write and make the heroine of their books stupid. I will have to agree with reeses_pieces and say this was not one of Connie Mason's best at all. Like I said Connie Mason is one of my favorites authors, but if she writes anymore books like this one she will loose me as a reader.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just O.K., October 30, 2007
This review is from: Seduced by a Rogue (Mass Market Paperback)
Description from the back of the book:

Ramsey Dunsmore, Earl of Braxton, thought his days of spying for the English government were over, but the Foreign Office had requested his help in the search for a valuable amulet. Braxton's task was to do what he did best--charm a young beauty into disclosing all. But this mission had an ulterior motive. The woman in question was Ram's former love, a lady who'd broken his heart four years before. The loving kisses he'd place on her lush mouth would be more than amorous...they would hold the sweet taste of revenge.

Phoebe Thompson had more than her fair share of worries. Her Egyptologist father was missing, blamed for the disappearance of an ancient artifact, and her home had been burglarized in search of the piece, leaving her with a lump on the head. The last thing she needed was the ardent attention of Lord Braxton, infamous Rogue of London, to whom she'd once mistakenly given her body and heart. But two could play at seduction, and despite faith in his highly cultivated sexual prowess, Phoebe planned to beat him at his own game. The sensual Lord Braxton would prove his intentions were honorable before she could relinquish anything...including her heart.

* For the most part I enjoyed this book but the book had way too many sexual scenes for me. The picture for this book was very fitting because I felt like all they did was spend their time in bed. The story line was o.k. but as another reviewer stated there were no surprises. This was book #2 in this 3 book Rogues of London series. I enjoyed the first book & the last looks promising so I'd recommend this series.

Ramsey Dunsmore,The Earl of Braxon served the forgein office durning the war. When news come that a priceless egyptian artifact is missing the prime suspect are Sir Andrew Thompson and his daughter Phoebe, Ramsey's wife. Ramsey see this a chance to get back her for leaving him four years ago.
"Seduced by a Rogue" is second book in Connie Mason's "Rouge series" and while some scenes were very sexy, the overall plot was a very easy read and not much depth to it. The villian was clear to by chapter four and that did take away from the overall story.

3.0 out of 5 stars In Ms. Mason's comfort zone, June 2, 2003

Desmond Chan (Bishan North Singapore) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Seduced by a Rogue (Mass Market Paperback)
Connie Mason's second installment to her Rogue series aspires to be no more than an entertaining caper that will gratify her league of fans. A flat-out predictable plot involving Earl of Braxton, Ramsey Dunsmere who is recruited back to the Foreign Offices to seduce his estranged wife, daughter to an Egyptian archaeologist Phoebe Thompson serves as the platform for plenty of hot sizzling interludes. He is to reclaim back an amulet which is crucial to the diplomatic relations between Egypt and England. Ms. Mason's mastery at weaving passion and tension salvages this otherwise prolonged romance and the frustration from their unresolved conflicts on trust and commitments. It is definitely a book in Ms. Mason's comfort zone - safe but none too surprising.
