2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as I had hoped
I am a great fan of Kimberly Logan and have been really enjoying the Daventry sister series. But I am afraid I am disappointed with this book. I loved the idea of Aimee overcoming Royce's terrible fears but it felt very contrived. There didn't feel like any build-up in chemistry and I felt the relationship between them was very forced. 5.0 out of 5 stars fabulous ending to the Daventry siblings' Regency romantic suspense, March 28, 2008
This review is from: Seduced by Sin (Mass Market Paperback)
In 1823, Lady Aimee Daventry continues to have the nightmares that she has suffered from since she witnessed the murder of her mother ten years ago when she was nine years old. Although the late killer confessed five years ago, these dreams this time have her mom insisting she remember everything so that she can make them listen. Her two married sisters Maura and Jillian worry about Aimee who is so unlike them or their late mom, the actress Elise. Instead she is a mouse who plans to remain a spinster especially since the man she loves Viscount Royce Grenville rejected her last year as he said he was not interested in mice. Royce hides how much he desires Aimee out of fear that he is cursed to doom those he loves. He blames himself for the deaths of his late brother Alex seven years ago, his sibling's wonderful fiancée Cordelia nine years ago, and that of his unit at Waterloo.

With her two sisters settled (see SINS OF MIDNIGHT and THE DEVIL'S TEMPTATION) her father hopes to see Aimee married. However, before taking any vows, Aimee begins her quest that she pledge to herself to find her mother's killer. Aimee turns to Royce for help as her quest places her in danger from a killer who wants the secret of his/her identity to remain concealed.

This is a fabulous ending to the Daventry siblings' Regency romantic suspense trilogy. The return of the lead couples from the previous novels is more than a feeling of homecoming as they offer advice to the heroine's concerned father. However, the tale belongs to Aimee who may look and somewhat act like a mouse, but roars with claws out in perilous situations. The mystery of who killed their mother's murder is cleverly devised so that key threads from the previous tales are tied up nicely. Perhaps the only subtraction is that of a thug paid to kill Aimee turns illogically maniacal in his quest to complete this paying job.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ending on a sour note., June 29, 2008

This book is the third in a series..the plot and story line start out great. The characters are lively and interesting...but then the end just sort of loses its magic. Good read to finish with if you read the first two books, but I personally like the middle book much better.

3.0 out of 5 stars Unseduced by this book, June 24, 2008
This review is from: Seduced by Sin (Mass Market Paperback)
Lady Aimee Daventry, now 19, has recently been plagued with dreams of the shocking event ten years before when she witnessed her mother being murdered. Immediately after the event she was unable to recall the actual events and it's only now, a decade later, that they are beginning to trickle back in her dreams. Aimee's sleep is regularly disturbed and she's not feeling too well.

Added to this is the reappearance in her life of Royce Grenville, Viscount Stonehurst. A year before Aimee declared herself in love with him after many years of friendship - and he completely rejected her. However for someone uninterested in her he seems to care a surprising amount and when Aimee's life appears to be in danger she goes to stay at his remote Cornwall home with a chaperone. But the distance from London may not be enough to keep Aimee safe and the evidence of Royce's difficult and perhaps cursed life isn't enough to keep her from trying to help him and to spend time with him. As Aimee's memories return she begins to realise that the events surrounding her mother's death are closer to home than she might have thought.

This was a reasonable if unremarkable book. The plot of the murder and the way it was gradually solved wasn't particularly surprising - the main culprits were fairly easy to spot as the book progressed. The relationship between Aimee and Royce felt rather uneven and wasn't entirely convincing, and neither was his belief that he is cursed. His behaviour was also rather questionable in terms of a viscount seducing the daughter of a marquis without any apparent thought for the consequences or suggestion of 'doing the right thing'. Historical accuracy was variable with dialogue regularly peppered with americanisms and the choice of names often unsuitable for this period. Despite these criticisms there wasn't anything dramatically wrong with this book, equally there wasn't anything particularly interesting about it. It felt rather like one of many also-rans in a wide field of runners within this genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seduced by Sin, June 2, 2008
This review is from: Seduced by Sin (Mass Market Paperback)
Lady Aimee saw the horrific murder of her mother when she was a child but this has always been a repressed memory/amnesia for her. Now suddenly as she is trying to be an adult and get on with her life, and accept the hand that fate has dealt her, there are two startling things that happen to her. One is that her long standing love and lust for Royce Grenville, Viscount Stonehurst may have a chance to blossom again, though he strongly rebuked it the last time she saw him. The second is that someone seems to be intent on harming or killing her as her memories return.

Will Royce be able to overcome his personal belief that he is cursed? His father convinced him of that years ago, when it seemed that everyone he loved wound up dead one way or another. This seemed to follow him into the army, which is where he personally obtained a scar. Aimee has a lot of patience and love for him but will he kill that love or be able to accept it and love her, as she deserves? While all these feeling are swirling around now suddenly it is becoming more and more apparent that someone wants to do Aimee bodily harm. Whether he can love her or not he vows to keep her safe.

Seduced by Sin is an interesting foray into the world of Historical Romance mixed with situational amnesia. Ms. Logan does a wonderful job in pulling the reader into the heart of the story. I read this story before I knew it was the third in a series, and it is easily a stand alone though it might make you want to go back and read the first two, like I am going to. I also think that while Royce was a troubled man, that Aimee gave him a few too many chances, but then again you will do a lot for love. I thoroughly enjoyed Seduced by Sin and think you will also.

4.0 out of 5 stars Four Blue Ribbons from Romance Junkies!, April 21, 2008
This review is from: Seduced by Sin (Mass Market Paperback)
Lady Aimee Daventry was a witness to her mother's death ten years ago. Since that time, that fateful day has haunted Aimee because she has been unable to remember even the smallest of details. Now, however, she has begun dreaming about the murder and is even starting to remember details. With her memory comes danger. Because the murderer has never been apprehended, Aimee's life is suddenly in danger. The person in charge of keeping her safe? Royce Grenville, Viscount Stonehurst. The one man that Aimee wants but knows that she will never have.

Royce Grenville came back from his stint with the British Cavalry a changed man. Scarred both on the inside and out, he wants nothing more than to be left alone to brood. Months ago, when Aimee Daventry set her sights on him, Royce knew then and there that he was not the man for her and so did the one thing he could do to make her leave him alone. And it worked. Aimee no longer wants anything to do with Royce but underneath her bluster, he knows that she still wants him, just as much as he wants her. When danger follows her Royce does the only thing he can think of at the time. He vows to keep her safe. No matter what.

The third installment to this wonderful series is the perfect ending. SEDUCED BY SIN is a fitting tale for Aimee and Royce. Each character is scared and imperfect. They are barely hanging onto their sanity and yet are unable to let the other go. When the true culprit is unearthed the real adventure begins. Royce is doing his best to protect Aimee and while that is very cavalier of him, I am glad she scoffs at his protection and just wants him in her life. He needs her whether he will admit it or not.

It is books like SEDUCED BY SIN that keep me reading. Intensely enjoyable and highly suspenseful, SEDUCED BY SIN is the perfect read for me. I can't wait to see what Ms. Logan releases next!
