I bought this album not really knowing what to expect. I had read good reviews, but I was just getting into this genre, so I really didn't know what 'good' was. But this album is good! The lead singer's vocals are beautiful, and the whole album has you wondering what the next song will sound like. I really admire the cellist in the band, metal needs more strings! My favorite songs are Unbroken, a slightly depressing song featuring vocals and piano. What I love about this song is that its easy to sing along to, (not to high, not to low, not to fast) for a person with a not-so-great singing voice (such as myself)My other favorite is Hangman's Lullaby. I really can't explain it, there so much emotion packed into her voice.

I really admire the cellist in the band, metal needs more strings!

This is GREAT! I disagree with the other reviewer, the male vocalist sounds great with Riina..
The Strings sound AMAZING!
I also like Riinas strong voice, that can go high without sounding too feminine and opera-y
My favorite song is Dead Silent, but Hangman's Lullaby is also good.

Its a shame their latest album 'Amortean' doesn't sound half as good...

Lots of creative songwriting in evidence here. Especially enjoyable are the orchestral instruments, which are used to great effect. The music blends a number of influences ranging from progressive rock to metal to symphonic / goth elements.

The female vocalist possesses a deeper voice than you usually find in these sorts of bands these days. Very Annie Lennox-esque. Quite a nice match to the music, actually. Lady can belt out the tunes no problem.

But beware the male vocalist. I bought the stupid album thinking it was just the lady singing. All the MP3 samples on the page here simply feature her singing, or just instrumental music. I was startled when this guy showed up on track 2 and started howling like his... like something was caught in a vise. He's got a high, screechy, raw-sounding voice. Higher than the lady's voice, actually.

Dear Silentium: I know it's your band and all that, but could you lose the guy singer on the next album? Maybe hand him a tambourine and have him cavort onstage while your talented female vocalist handles the singing? Thanks muchly.
