Praise for Seducing the Knight

"Gerri Russell's creative imagination enthralls me." --Debbie Macomber

"Russell packs the pages of the Indiana-Jones-meets-Lara-Croft tale with nonstop action." -- RT Book Reviews

From the Author

My inspiration for writing the Brotherhood of the Scottish Templars series came from a quick annotation in a history reference book that described a band of knights united under Robert the Bruce who were sent on a mission after the king's death to return his heart to the Holy Land. That brief little reference got me thinking, and I had to know more. Why would a king of Scotland want to send his heart on to the Holy Land? Who were the men he entrusted to see his wish fulfilled? It was these questions, and their answers that piqued my imagination and sparked the creation of the Brotherhood of the Scottish Templars series.

I hope you enjoy reading about the knights of the Brotherhood of the Scottish Templars and the women who guide them through their journeys. I'll take you to exotic locations in the Holy Land as well as the heathered hills of Scotland. There will be danger and lots of adventure as the characters find their way to true love.

5.0 out of 5 stars An original tale with terrific characters May 2, 2010
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Author Gerri Russell has penned a truly unique tale, it's a little bit Indiana Jones and the epic movie The Kingdom rolled into one sweet story about honor, fate and love.

Templar Knight Alan Cathcart is on the battle field in Spain with his fellow brethren fighting a massive Moorish army when unbelievably he sees a woman running onto the battleground. He charges over and rescues her from the clashing swords and he's amazed to find a well dressed articulate Spaniard speaking to him in English.

Jessamine is no common Spaniard, she is in fact the niece of King Ferdinand and she charged into the midst of a horrible battle to escape an evil man the Conde of Teba who is trying to force her into marriage. Jessamine is grateful to be rescued and she is a huge believer in fate. At her birth a prophecy was foretold that she would be on a grand adventure and seeing Alan's templar uniform among the Moorish turbans, she knows the first lines of the prophecy have come to pass.

Alan is on a quest to discover the Ark of the Covenant for the Templar Order; the knights believe that they can keep the Ark safe from marauders in the middle eastern desert. Jessamine now believes this is her quest too and she accompanies Alan to Jerusalem to look for the holy artifact.

The two find much adventure along the way. There are assassins, mysterious strangers, Bedouins and always the Conde is stalking Jessamine hoping to marry into the royal family. Ms Russell does a good job of describing the harsh beauty of the desert, the wonder of Petra and the dangers that the leads face. There's a hint of the mystical woven throughout this story beginning with the miraculous rescue of Jessamine from the Moorish battle to the prophecy to the awesome forces displayed in the desert.

In the process they learn to admire each others thoughts and actions. The story moves smoothly from one adventurous undertaking to another.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Exciting, Passion-filled Adventure! March 9, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Author Gerri Russell kept me on the edge of my seat from the first page when Jessamine flees from the evil and power-hungry Conde of Teba, who wants her pedigree for his own gain. Even a priest refuses to protect her, and she's forced to run headlong into a battle between the Templars and the Moors, rescued by Templar Sir Alan Cathcart.

This is only the beginning of the adventures the Spanish princess and the Scottish knight face as he's on a quest to find the Ark of the Covenant. The story is so well-written, you'll think you're right there with them as they're pursued by assassins and endure hardships along the way. This is truly an epic journey where the exciting action magnifies Alan's and Jassamine's heated passion. [Fans self] I'm looking forward to the next Gerri Russell book!

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible! April 13, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was not continuous, and the characters were kind of flat. Jessamina was the Spanish king's niece, and is part Spaniard and part Moorish. Alan is Scottish and a Templar Knight who swore a vow of celibacy. They embark on a mission to find the Ark of the Covenant, following mysterious letters and a cryptic prophecy. They do not talk much to each other about their lives, and Jessamina never tells Alan why she is being pursued, and he never asks! They do not have any character development, and they seem to think that because they feel passion for each other, it must be love. There are no tender feelings, but only a sense of duty, desire, or thoughts of prophecy that keep them together. The whole story and romance is so contrived. It was a BIG waste of time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but...... October 29, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book has good potential, however I think if the author did not self publish I would have enjoyed the story more. I am an avid reader and the problem I had with this book was several grammatical and editing errors. At times it seemed as though she wrote the book as if it was a movie, leaving out certain gestures which leave gaps in the story. Once again it was a good story, but publishing without the fine toothed comb of an editor hurt the story.

4.0 out of 5 stars OK read May 1, 2013

While this was a little confusing at first, the book was an interesting read. The plot however was a let down especially after the "ark" was found.

4.0 out of 5 stars OK January 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the first book I have read by this author. The author does a tremendous job in research for the plot and incorporates both fact and fiction to comprise this stories as many historical works are. However, I didn't see where the title really described the book. The main female character persona wasn't about having an agenda to seduce the knight.

It is very obvious this author has the talent to write. I just wished that the idea for the book was not so aligned with Indiana Jones.

Overall the book was easy to read, few grammar/punctuation mistakes were noted. If you like the Indiana Jones series, I am pretty sure you will like this book.
