4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, Romantic, a mondern day fairy tail
I think this book was kind of old fashion, refreshing and fun. ...Tyler did not threaten her job, if fact he complimented her on her work. I loved the fact that Haily was still a virgin, you can't get better than that!! It show's you don't have sleep with everyone have a good job. I thought it was a great book, it was romantic and funny. Tyler did not force Haily to...

1.0 out of 5 stars Seduction by Design....give me a break!
This a is typical SB novel. I'm still wondering who came up with the title for this novel. I've read several novels by this author, and after reading the last one, I sort of felt badly about how I'd thought her talent lacked a lot. I figured I'd just picked up the wrong novels and was off to a bad start. My first mistake here was buying another reprint. My second...

1.0 out of 5 stars Seduction by Design....give me a break!, May 23, 2001
This a is typical SB novel. My second mistake was reading this novel from the start to the finish. After I closed the book and thought about the story, I started laughing. I'm still laughing. I can't believe I stayed with it and read the whole book in one sitting. I thought several times that sooner or later the plot will improve and the story will get better. Nope, it just didn't happen. It makes me wonder sometimes how an author can write a book like this one and expect the public to swallow it. Better yet, for a publisher to stick an author's name on a reprint and sell it. Then I'm thinking, it's a reprint from 1983 and maybe this type of novel was considered good. However, this is 2001 and no one would expect a business tycoon like Tyler Scott to behave with an employee in such a manner. To tell an employee he planned to seduce her the next day after their first meeting would lay a man wide open for legal action under the sexual harassment act. There was no leading up to a love affair. It just started out with Tyler telling her his intentions and from there it was....well...it was YUCK. I share books that I purchase with a reading buddy and I plan to give her the option about reading this book. I wouldn't recommend it to her because I wouldn't want her to get the idea I enjoyed any part of it. If she didn't already know I had it, I wouldn't tell her about it at all. With that, I think I've made my point.

First of all, I would like to say that I usually love Sandra Brown books. But I was totaly disappointed in this book. The story line was too predictible and the heroine was too weak.

1.0 out of 5 stars What a Major Rip Off, August 5, 2003
By A Customer
OK. Sandra Brown has decided to recycle romances she wrote 20 years ago. They repackage the product in a hip, new hardcover title and sell it as "new"... Only they decide to come up front and admit in the front of the book that it's a reprint from 20 years ago. Not a problem. UNTIL YOU READ THE BOOK.

I'm sorry. I am a librarian and I understand the value of "new editions" that come out every year, updating "old" editions. But rich, lazy Sandra Brown didn't even BOTHER to read the "old" book and update it. Example....Little 11 year old Faith wears her hair in pigtails but would like to look like Stevie Nicks. She plays "electronic games" or "computerized games" in restaurants and begs to spend the night at a friend's house because her TV has an "Atari" and she also has some cool "albums". PULLLEZE.

There's more (descriptions of the "hip" outfits) but I won't go into it. People waste incredible amounts of money on hardcover books. Fortunately for me, I just checked it out at my library. But my director wasted HIS money because the book was not a "new edition" in the least. I so don't look forward to reading the other two "updated books" I have on my desk.

Don't even think of buying this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars One of Brown's worst!, February 6, 2004
By A Customer
This was the worst Sandra Brown book I have ever heard. Not only were the characters shallow (the kid's temper tantrum was probably the best thing about the book) but the "love story" between Tyler and Hailey just made me ill. The characters Hailey, with her paranoia and low self esteem issues (Oh, my sister is so much prettier than me, boo hoo, no one is going to love me, boo hoo), and Tyler, with his boorish behavior and dialogue (something along the lines of him being a naked warrior when they were at the cabin), just wanted to make me hide the book in shame.

2.0 out of 5 stars Recycled Harlequin, March 30, 2002
By
"spudtwin" (Malta, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This book was just another recycled Harlequin. It was written in 1993 but republished as a much more expensive hardcover in 2001. The title says it is a "classic" romance, probably as a shaded disclaimer to let the reader know that the leading man is a pushy male chauvinist pig. If he displayed this same kind of lecherous behavior in this day and age, he'd be slapped with a sexual harrassment suit.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyed this book, April 30, 2001
Like many of Sandra Brown's romance novels, this was a fairly quick read - one evening for me.

Hailey Ashton is a mid-30's career woman with a job in an Tennessee Amusement Park dealing with customer relations. Not a success in the dating department, she compares herself to her prettier, yet troubled sister whom she always bails out of trouble. One particular day in the park, an incident brings Hailey unknowingly in direct dealings with the park owner, Tyler Scott. After meeting, he finds her quite attractive and sets out to seduce her, and tells her flat out of his intentions. What follows is an intense seduction that leaves Hailey confused and in love -- with Tyler Scott, and his young daughter.

Another great story by Sandra Brown!

3.0 out of 5 stars Seduction By Design: Not quite a classic love story...., April 30, 2001
By A Customer
Seduction By Design is about a insecure woman who finds love through the owner of the amusement park where she works. I have read most of Sandra Brown's books and this book is not one of my favorites or the best that I have read. Her more current books are more suspenseful with a romance in the plot. Her older novels, such as Seduction By Design have strictly a romance plot. This book is a quick read and entertaining, but is not quite as good as her more current novels. The characters are not well developed as compared to her current novels and as soon as the book begins, it ends.

1.0 out of 5 stars Shlock - poorly written schlock, January 1, 2004

I cannot believe that anyone admits to reading this book, much less liking it. Pure supermarket trash. I made it to page 23.
I see Amazon is advertising used copies for 1 cent plus postage. That about sums it up.
