I can't understand why this book has 5 stars. Yes, the binding is very pretty in red velvet. However, the recipes are not very practical. I am not looking for an every day cookbook here, either. A good portion of the recipes, especially appetizers, use caviar. If they don't use caviar, they use oysters. I want to emphasize that I didn't purchase this book for every day cooking - I wanted something for those special nights. I'm not complaining about expensive ingredients, or how long they take. There's just no substance, nothing that will wow anyone. I have found possibly 3 recipes that I can use.

For the average cook, this book is definitely a no. You're not going to spend 5 hours on these recipes. If you don't like caviar or oysters, again a no. At least half of the recipes use one or the other, if not both. For a good cook, one who enjoys spending time perfecting a culinary delight, there are many other good "couples" books out there, and many with much more variety. I can't recommend this book as a cook book, but maybe as a nice coffee table book.

I am a professional Chef and I also cook at home a great deal. I have seen cookbooks come and go for years and too many of them have recipes which don't work, or have ingredients that are inappropriate and only put in to be part of a'trend', not concerned with the integrity of the dish. Rudi Sodamin is truly a gifted Chef and lover of food, art, and romance. He has created not only an aesthetic, elegant, and tasteful (literally) work of art for us, but one that we can all use and confidently give as a gift that will be cherished and most importantly, used. This is a truly beautiful coffee table book, but the ingredients were not only impractical, but repetitive. Only a few recipes were practical (and I'm into gourmet food). Other recipes did provide inspiration to create my own versions with ingredients that were easier to find.

What a superb cookbook - great pictures, great text and what's more - the recipes work! Starting with the red-velvet cover, the whole book is sensual - too bad I didn't buy it in time for Valentine's Day, what a great gift for your lover, your wife, your girlfriend (or all three!). Buy Seduction & Spice and learn, you will not be disappointed, I guarantee.

I am a cookbook collector and I have never seen such a beautiful cookbook,honestly I do not cook much myself.This cookbook is more than a cookbook, it made me laugh and joyfull. I had to call my girl friend and read some of the well written sensual text. It is seductive and spicy - Great Title and a GREAT BOOK. I love it!

Wow, what a great book! I bought it for a friend, and after looking through it I decided to keep it for myself. It is full of great and easy recipes. How can you go wrong with a book like this? I have already tried several of the recipes and they work like a charm. This book is a must have in everyones kitchen. Buy it quick.

"Seduction and Spice" is filled with sensual recipes that are as fun to read as they are to try. With a red velvet cover, decadent desserts and gourmet feasts this is a collectable cookbook like no other. Some of the recipes you may want to try include:

Some of the recipes need ingredients like fish stock, although no recipe for stock is given. There are quite a few recipes that require expensive ingredients like lobster and saffron. To be honest this book is a culinary fantasy with sexy and suggestive sidebars filled with information for the intellectual appetite.

I found it strange to happen upon a recipe for two that required an entire rack of lamb with 8 chops. Many of the recipes serve 8-12 so you will have leftovers if you are just cooking for your lover.

The impressive cover is only topped by the page after page of tantalizing full-color pictures. I can recommend this highly for reading in bed. If you love reading cookbooks then you will find the information on avocados, mint, arugula, chives, celery, truffles, onions, peas, garlic, mushrooms, tomatoes, sesame seeds, coffee, vanilla and chocolate to be highly entertaining.
