A Georgian romance that's well worth a read,
By L. Dobbie (Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Seductive Secrets: The Secrets Trilogy book 1 (Kindle Edition)
Eight years ago Isobel and Nicholas were engaged to be married but on the eve of the wedding Isobel eloped with Harry Thoroughgood because of his quiet, non-threaten manner after Nicholas got a bit too heavy making out with her. Isobel had no idea of how sex worked and unbeknownst to her Harry was gay and trying to avoid speculation by getting married despite being in a long term relationship. He was attracted to her boyish figure but wasn't able to consummate the relationship unless he treated her as he would have a man. Isobel in her ignorance didn't understand this wasn't how it was supposed to work and Harry's behavior resulted in her misery and fearing sex.
Now that a year has passed since Harry's suicide Nicholas is back and has again asked Isobel's to marry him. He's a Marquis but with sufficient family that Isobel's supposed infertility doesn't matter. Once they're married he works out what happened to Isobel and sets about convincing her to give them a chance. In the mean time there's an ex-mistress who wants him back, blackmailer who knows about Harry and a murder to deal with. If you're looking for something with lots of unrelated graphic sex then this isn't the book for you. It should really sit in the Erotic Romance category where it can properly compete with novels like "Almost a gentleman". That said the intimate scenes are well written although not showing anything particularly kinky. Unfortunately the nature of what the publishers normally produce plus the publishers warning may give the wrong impression. Nicholas's two best friends are next in the series.

Seductive Secrets,
This review is from: Seductive Secrets: The Secrets Trilogy book 1 (Kindle Edition)
It's been seven years since Isobel left Nick at the altar. And Nick has never stopped loving her. Now she's a widow and Nick has asked her to marry him again. He is more than willing to take a chance on them even though rumors are flying about her and her dead husband. He knows Isobel has some shameful secrets that are painful to her and it's up to him to ease that pain.
Isobel eloped with a man she thought she loved seven years ago. She made a horrible mistake and all because she was young and frightened by Nick's intensity. Now is her chance to make it up to him and as painful as it is for her, she will give herself to Nick. As Nick and Isobel work on their relationship and learning to trust, others are threatening their happiness. Her father and brother want money. His mother is unwilling to relinquish household control to the new bride. His old mistress wants him back. Someone is blackmailing Isobel. The threads of life weave through and around each other and Nick and Isobel have decisions to make that will affect their future together. Seductive Secrets is intriguing. Nick and Isobel have so much to work through to be happy. Nick is determined to make Isobel see that he loves her no matter what. Even though the storyline moved slowly, I liked Seductive Secrets. The secondary characters went a long way to making the story enjoyable. Willow reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

Get it free if you can,

I liked the cover of this book and from the stories that this publisher offers I thought this is going to be like one of the many stories I read for this publisher, but I was disappointed with this one. The whole neighborhood was in the story, dragging pages with clichéd problems really made me ask myself why I am reading this book? If you could get it free go ahead but otherwise, I wouldn't.

A struggle to fnish,

This review is from: Seductive Secrets (Secrets Trilogy) (Paperback)
Isobel had been in love with Nicholas, the Marquis of Cardington but due a series of events Isobel married someone else. Now eight years later Isobel is a widow and Nicholas means to have her. But there are old scandels from the past that make keep Nick and Isobel apart forever.
"Seductive Secrets" is a the first book in the secrets trilogy by Lynne Connolly and I found it a stuggle to finish. I didn't find the characters very interesting and I found skimming over pages, just wanting to finish the book. I thought that the secondarly storying was not the interesting and took away the main storyline. While "Seductive Secrets" looks interesting you may find it hard to finish and you may want to pass on it. |
