Customer Reviews

Very good acting and solid cast.

Barely "okay" rental with an ending that felt rushed and a little forced -- like the writers suddenly got sick of the project and just wanted to be done with it.

This is a small unobtrusive film that tells a story about a woman who is married, but still thinks about an old (high school) flame. When her marriage is starting to feel boring and her husband and her are both changing she decides to explore the past and her other options. The smaller roles in this film really steal the show - her family: mom, dad, and an alcoholic brother with some emotional issues make this film well worth the watch.

Very good acting and solid cast. Jeremy Strong really is excellent in his supporting role and is definitely an up and coming star. Well worth seeing on the big screen.

This movie is not action packed nor a sweeping epic instead it takes a look at the subtle disappointments that come with real human relationships and our human tendency to question our choices when life doesn't turn out like the movies.
Basically. a woman at 40 looks back, goes back and I'll leave the rest for you to uncover.
My husband would have fallen asleep, but that's ok because I wanted to sneak off with her and see how everything turned out. I am glad I did. Nice movie

A friend wouldn't leave me alone until I'd watched this movie and I'm glad because I never would have heard of it otherwise, which is almost criminal. So many crappy movies, both major studio and Sundance-y get all this buzz and they aren't half the movie that See Girl Run is! The characters are so rich and nuanced and well-played and the story is completely relatable, but you still lean forward a little wanting to know how everything gets resolved. Robin Tunney and Adam Scott are much better here than they are in their prime-time gigs, and you'll probably recognize a lot of members of the supporting cast, but here each of them really gets to shine, even if just for a moment. If you've ever been married and/or looked back on a more passionate relationship you had in your youth, you will feel like this movie was made as a special gift just for you. But even if you aren't exactly like one of the characters in the movie, you'll still appreciate how finely textured this movie is. So many movies are based on a good idea that gets executed poorly, with lazy writing, sloppy storytelling and overly broad acting. See Girl Run is such a strong example of how budget means nothing compared to assured writing, stories told with love and very well-directed performances. Wish we saw more movies like this one.

40-ish Emmie 's well-off hubby loves her, she owns a thriving pet care business in NYC, she escaped her small town Maine life, but the thrill is gone and the "what if?" has set in as she considers whether she took the right road in her marriage. Similarly, her younger brother Brandon is back at home with the parents with bad case of alcoholism, self-pity and the same questions as to how he missed the boat somewhere and will he ever get back on track. And finally, Emmie's high school love, Jason, is still a waiter and hoping to make it as an artist after many years "perfecting his craft" painting FROGS. He is happily stuck in his local pond, including carrying a torch for Emmie to the detriment to any new relationship and depending on the "Bank of Dad" to let him live his dream. Emmie decides to return home to see if she can recapture the romance that is missing from her life. This movie covers well-travelled ground, plot-wise, however all the actors bring such warm, engrossing performances to their characters that I was fully caught up in their lives . When the movie ended, I really wished I could see into the future for each of the characters to see how it all turned out. Definitely worth a watch.
