More About the Author

Melissa Blue's writing career started on a typewriter one month after her son was born. This would have been an idyllic situation for a writer if it had been 1985, not 2004. She penned that first contemporary romance, upgraded to a computer and hasn't looked back since.

Outside of writing, Blue works as a mail clerk for the federal government, has a paralegal certificate (that she has more use for as a dust pan) and is a mother of two rambunctious children. She lives in California where the wine is good and, despite popular belief, is not always sunny.

Contemporary romances are not usually my first choice when I look for a book. And when I do choose contemporary, I often go with the erotic romance rather than sensual. This book, however, makes nonsense of all my scruples and draws me in. First of all, this author knows how to bring her characters to life. Aiden and Megan are two very stubborn, very understandable people with real life emotions that jump out of the book and into my head.
The theme of forgiveness is woven throughout the book and the author leaves me wanting more with every chapter until I NEED to know what happens. Plus, the writing gives the dark emotional stuff along with damn funny lines that had me chuckling out loud. The concept of "family" in this story is not only touching and sweet but absolutely hilarious.
If you want a slice of small town with a dab of sweet romance, this is a story for you.

Ok, this book was long and drawn out. Good story line but to much narration. It took three quarters of the book to find out what actual happen to her. This was the most boring book that I've ever read.

I am a Melissa Blue fan and have read and enjoyed a number of her books. This one, was such a slow read. No action. Narration tooo long and it was just boring. However, I do recommend product.

A no drama slow moving romance. Nice enough but too predictable for a higher rating. Other titles by this author have been better.

This story had potential but didn't live up to it. Megan has always felt unloved and unwanted by her mother, Nicole. She's angry that Nicole manipulated her into coming home, by promising to deed her the house if Megan will stay in town for a month. Megan wants the house as it holds cherished memories of her father, who died of cancer when she was a child. When she arrives in town, she discovers that her mother seems to have changed, but she doesn't trust this new version of her mother.

So much could have been done with this storyline alone, even without bringing Aiden (Megan's ex) into it. But the author never explains what caused Nicole to change, or why she was so hostile to Megan before. Nicole supposedly wants a closer relationship with Megan now, but she's not exactly conciliatory and won't apologize for the past. It doesn't really make sense.

Aiden's upset that Megan left town without a word all those years ago, and it takes ages for Megan to explain why. It's not until 62% of the book that he really understands what happened, and then his reaction is pretty low-key and they don't even talk about it. I felt like that whole issue was brushed under the carpet and not properly dealt with, the same way the change in Nicole was not properly dealt with. It was a waste, because the author could have used this to get Aiden and Megan to come to terms with the past and Aiden could have helped Megan work out her fears and insecurities.

Instead, the author decided to build the conflict around the fact that Megan's business is elsewhere and she has only promised to stay in town for a month.

Loved it.

Megan's and her mother's relationship was really complicated. At first I really did not like the mother but as the story went on I felt for her. Glad they worked on their relationship. The theme of forgiveness and second chances is very clear in the book. The relationship between her and Arden was a bit drawn out but both characters were so well built that I had to know what was going to happen next.

Good work Melissa

I really liked this book. I couldn't put it down. There is a second book about Megan's friend Lynne called See Lynne Chased.
