Book Description

October 19, 2011
Have you tried mixing a Mojito? What about a Rusty Nail? Or a Cosmopolitan? With See Mix Drink, the first-ever cocktail book to offer instruction through info-graphics, making the drinks you love at home is as easy as, well, See, Mix, Drink.

This unique, illustrated guide graphically demonstrates how to make 100 of today's most popular cocktails. For each drink, color-coded ingredients are displayed in a line drawing of the appropriate glassware, alongside a pie chart that spells out the drink's composition by volume for intuitive mixing. No other cocktail book is this easy or fun. Instantly understandable 1-2-3 steps show exactly how each drink is prepared, and anecdotes, pronunciation guides, and photographs of the finished drinks will turn newbie bartenders into instant mixologists.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'd Rather Be At The Beach: Reviews October 29, 2011
By Vicki
Format:Hardcover
I don't drink, but we have family members and family who do. So I thought it would be nice to know how to mix some drinks for get togethers or parties.

This book has all the information you need to make a wide variety of drinks and is very simple to follow.

Here are the contents:
Introduction
How To Use This Book
Bar Essentials
The Spirits
(Brandy, Champange, Gin, Rum, Tequila, Vodka, Whiskey, Liqueres)
Index Sorted By Name
Index Sorted By Calories Per Drink
Acknowledgements

Each drink has graphs and charts showing the type of glass to use and how full to make the drink. There is also a chart that shows the percentage of ingredients. The titles for each drink are: ingredients, description, best occasion, proportions, time required, instructions and a photo of the finished drink.

I think this book is awesome!! It takes the worry out of making a drink when you have no clue what you're doing. It would be perfect for anyone who likes making drinks or someone who would like to learn. I haven't used the book yet to make a drink, but wouldn't be afraid to with this book at my side.

4.0 out of 5 stars Stir the Vesper, James Bond be damned! January 10, 2013
By Roochak
Format:Hardcover
Show, don't tell. That's the distinction between all the cocktail recipe books I haven't bought, and this one. But while Brian Murphy's color-coded infographics give you a drink's ingredients, measurements, and appropriate glassware at a glance, they won't tell you that some drinks are better stirred than shaken, i.e., anything with vermouth and other lightweight spirits; the author's default position is, shake everything. The graphics won't tell you to pop that vermouth in the fridge once the bottle is opened, or it'll spoil within days; and they certainly won't warn you against wasting your money on lousy-tasting liquors and liqueurs that you'll wind up pouring down the drain (I mean you, Gordon's, Jose Cuervo, and DeKuyper).

SEE MIX DRINK is a very good book for what it is -- an entry-level cocktail compendium that makes hands-on home bartending look a lot less daunting -- but ask questions of your liquor store staffers before you buy your spirits. You'll be glad you did.
