Book Description

January 24, 2008
Lawyer Joe Newbury may have the biggest case of his career, defending the father of the missing Bloomsburg children, in this work of fiction by an accomplished lawyer. However, Joe's life and the case get more complicated as he begins a relationship with Demme, a woman whose search for her missing past ties into environmental issues arising from the run-up to the world's greatest athletic event in 2010. Echoing Greek mythology, the politics of the city intertwine with the personal lives of its residents as they search for truth, meaning, and belonging. Faith battles with reason to find solutions to personal questions, ecological destruction, and the unknown fate of the two missing children.

Editorial Reviews

Review

With well-drawn characters and an enigmatic story, Nowlin pulls you into a compelling adventure. Replete with mythological allusions and quirky, but likable characters, To See the Sky is a fun read. --Daniel Kalla, international best-selling author of Pandemic, Resistance, Rage Therapy and Blood Lies.

About the Author

Christopher Nowlin has developed a unique approach to the crime novel genre as he describes his work as a philosophical mystery novel . Christopher has earned a BA and MA (in philosophy), an LLB and an LLM and a PhD (in criminology). His writing is influenced by his professional work as a criminal defense lawyer, but is also given a unique twist by his studies in philosophy. Nowlin divides his time between Vancouver and Pender Island, where he can typically be found writing fiction or non-fiction, bicycling, painting or preparing to argue a point of law at the B.C Court of Appeal. Born and raised in Lethbridge Alberta, he has also lived in Ontario, Quebec and the English midlands, which is even rainier than Vancouver as he recalls.
