Wonderful - best used with head rest,

This mirror is definitely the best out there. It has the biggest mirror available. It is very clear and not warped or foggy. It has multiple attachment options.
However, it is best used with a headrest. It has an optional way of using it in the middle seat. Unfortunately, this method instructs you to use a rolled towel along with some strings and a safety pin provided. I've rigged it to work, but it took a lot of work and it still gets bumped or moved fairly often. I just wish they could come up with a better system for the middle seat. Regardless, I still highly recommend this mirror. It is the best you will find. UPDATE 2/8/08: I finally became so sick of it flopping forward and backward with the towel in the middle position that I decided to rig it my own way. I looped the ties through the bear and the strings on the towel. I then tied each end of the ties to the head rest on either side of the middle seat. It works beautifully now! It doesn't budge at all!

The BEST Rear View Mirror for No Headrest!,

I've got a bump for a headrest. Which is to say I've got no headrest and it's been really hard to find a rear view mirror that would work. Between my 2 kids (one who's finally forward facing now) I've gone through probably 10 of these mirrors. As I'm sure you've found out, none of them work without an actual headrest. I saw this on amazon, went to Bearview's website and watched a youtube video (type Bearview mirror) about how to install this without a headrest (which I urge you to do because you'll see how the mirror installs and if it will in your car). The $25 they're asking for it seems pretty steep but I assure you it's well worth it. The mirror itself is LARGE, there's no straining to see your baby. And while it's convex (rounded), it's also remarkably clear and doesn't distort or warp the view of your baby. The panda is also super cute, it's very plush and soft (not that your baby will be playing with it, just thought it was worth mentioning). Most importantly, this mirror functions the way it should (baby can be seen CLEARLY) and stays on a no headrest bump. I have to mention that I did install this using the tether method provided on the website (which I don't think appears in the actual instructions included with the mirror). You thread the string provided through a hole and tie onto your rear deck tether. I then did minimal adjusting to get the perfect view of my baby. DONE. SUPER EASY. Overall, this is a high quality mirror that is really well thought out for people with no headrests (finally). I would recommend it even if you do have headrests because the mirror is so large and clear.

Best Mirror Ever,

I have the monkey version of this mirror and it is the ONLY one I have found that you can actually see your child in without straining. All of the others at Target, Babies R Us, Walmart... are fuzzy. You spend too much time trying to focus and not enough time with your eyes on the road. With a quick glace, you can see clearly. It sounds stupid to say it's the only mirror I can see out of... but it is true. All the others are useless. My son now sits facing the front and loves to mac at himself in his monkey mirror.

This mirror does not work with my Britax Roundabout 55 rear facing car seat because of the way that it needs to be tethered to the anchor, so I've put it in the seat next to it, and I can still kind of see my child. It is HUGE! There is no way that I would put this on the headrest. It would completely block my vision. It's cute, though, and the mirror image is really clear. I wish I hadn't bought it. I did post a picture of the different ways you can anchor the mirror.

A MUST HAVE,
By
This review is from: BearView Infant Mirror Brown Puppy (Baby Product)
This is a must-have for any newborn baby that ever travels in the car. It is a very clear mirror that allows you to safely peek at the baby as you are driving.
We bought one for my car and later had to buy another for my husband's SUV because he constantly remarked, "I can't see what he's doing! Did you buy me that mirror yet?" Baby also loves to look at himself in the mirror for at least 15 minutes at a time before dropping off to sleep. He does not get fussy in the car anymore. Top Three Must-Haves for Newborns: 1. Boppy for nursing 2. Bearview Infant Mirror for watching baby in the car 3. Sleep sacks for middle-of-the-night diaper changes

I had a car mirror long ago for my son but had no idea where I stored it, so I bought this mirror when baby #2 came along. The mirror is larger than my first one was. The image is excellent! I can see my daughter perfectly. The only beef I have is that the monkey head rises above the headrest, creating a blindspot in my rearview mirror. So I have to be extra careful when I want to change lanes to the right. Otherwise, great product!

Great except in our SUV,

This is definitely one of the better mirror products we've tried. We have a baby with lots of reflux and spit-up issues, so I've needed to keep an eye on him while he's in the car seat to be sure he's not spitting up and choking. This product has a nice big mirror, convex so that it magnifies the baby well (especially if you can get the angle right), and Noah loves the puppy. He laughs every time he sees it. This product is PERFECT if you have an automobile with a center headrest in the back, or a car with an anchor on the back behind the seats. However, if you have an SUV with no center headrest, it becomes much more difficult. I've tried every trick I could think of, and wound up folding a stiff piece of fabric to go underneath it (works sort of as a pseudo headrest), and velcro to hold the fabric and bear on the leather seat. I also tied it off around the headrests on either side to stabilize it. It's now quite stable and in a good position, but the velcro doesn't stick well to leather so I have to restick it every so often. My final reaction is that although we love it, if I find something that has a better way to adhere to the back seat without a headrest, I'll probably switch it out and put the bearview on his crib instead. Grandma, who has a center headrest, is golden. For her, this product is perfect.

Great mirror but reduces rear window visibility,

This is a great mirror with excellent visibility for your infant's rear-facing car seat As other reviewers have said, it also has a very simple and effective attachment system, particularly if your seat has a headrest.
However, you should note the obvious before buying it: the giant animal head will significantly reduce your visibility through your car's read window if you attach it in the center seat. I drive a Prius which has fairly limited visibility through the rear window to start; with this monster installed on the center headrest, I can't see out the back very well at all. I'm strongly considering decapitating my dog-themed model, but I should probably think about the potential psychological impact that this might have on my infant first...

Great, But OVERPRICED,
By
This review is from: BearView Infant Mirror (Baby Product)
This product has worked phenomenally well for us. Baby girl is content instead of staring at the blank seat and when I glance back I can see her perfectly. It's cute, big, and sturdy.
However, I was lucky to find this product at a thrift store in excellent condition for only $1.50!!! I refused to pay over $25 for it online. If you really want it and cost isn't an issue, it has been a fabulous product and I would recommend buying it. The only other downfall besides the cost is that you have to surface clean it only. If you could remove the mirror and toss it in the washer that would be great. But I assume they think there isn't much chance of it getting dirty. But if you have kids & pets... everything has has the possibility of not remaining clean. I gave it 4 stars was because of the price. The actual product deserves 5 stars.

List of New Mum MUST HAVES!,

This review is from: BearView Infant Mirror Brown Puppy (Baby Product)
I bought this after being unable to get hold of anything similar in New Zealand where I live. It is AWESOME! My daughter (who is rear facing and will be until she is about 12months old here in NZ) can see me and herself and best of all I dont have to try and turn around to see her when I am driving, I can see what she is up to effortlessly through my rear-view mirror.
It is one of the half dozen things that I now suggest other new Mums get for their cars. Well worth the money!!! I am one VERY Happy purchaser! |
