Great illustrations for all ages!,
By Gatzpup (United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: See You Soon Moon (Hardcover)
I bought this book to read to the children at my son's 5th birthday party - which was a pretend sleep over (PJ party). The story fit in well with the moon theme. My younger son is 1 1/2 and he loved this book - as did the 5 year olds at the party. The illustrations are fun and the words flow like poetry. It's my childrens' new favorite book! It was probably more appropriate for my younger son - but my older one especially enjoyed the illustrations.

Just what every toddler loves!,
This review is from: See You Soon Moon (Paperback)
This book (See You Soon Moon) gets it right with it's creative story and bold illustrations. Conrad has tapped into the mind of a young child and comes out with exactly what children love about the world. It's sophisticated yet simple idea is what makes this a great addition to any child's collection of bed time books. It's happy, sweet, and remarkably profound. What are children thinking about? How do they learn to make sense of the world? Conrad has tapped it and through an unusual use of scale and story line, all of the love and humor flow through. This is a memorable book that will be around for a long time, lovingly passed down to generations of children.

A quintessential memory maker. Enjoyable from ages 2-82!,

This review is from: See You Soon Moon (Paperback)
This book surprised me with its simple depth. Getting a nostalgic feeling myself just reading to my three year old niece, I'm interested to see when she remembers this book as fondly someday as I remember the ones I had read to me when I was just a boy. I will be surprised if this book does not eventually become a staple in early childhood reading. My favorite thing is how it manages to leave so much to imagination, yet sneak in clever and attention keeping clips. Thanks to the author and artist, wherever you are, for creating such a neat source of happiness for my nieces, and hopefully someday my own children!

Wonderful gift book for 2- or 3-year-olds!,
By
This review is from: See You Soon Moon (Hardcover)
This book is written for ages 4-8, but I have loved it with my children from ages 2-3. In this book, a small child says goodbye to his room and yard, and rides at night to Grandma's house. He is amazed to realize that he sees the same moon the whole way there as he passes a lake, a bridge, a tollbooth. The moon is beautifully visible on each page and toddlers can't help pointing at it and exclaiming "Moon, Moon!" Each page has simple drawings which the reader can use to encourage the child to count, name items, or recite the simple text in unison. My 3-year old first read this book with me when she was 18 months old. Since then, she has had a magical sort of recognition every time she sees the real moon outside, day or night. She learned to love watching the moon on every car trip after reading this book. I highly encourage purchasing this book to read aloud to your favorite youngster.

blueberry skies at night--there's the moon,
By
This review is from: See You Soon Moon (Library Binding)
Wonderful pictures depict a nighttime ride to grandma's house for a little boy. Some lovely words: "blueberry sky", "swings with your long strings up to the sky", "my blanket as soft as a kitten on my lap," "the moon plays peekaboo." Every page shows something a child would see on a trip from the country to the city. The art matches the words perfectly. My son loves looking for the moon on each page. However, the poetry doesn't flow off the tongue easily, even though there are some wonderful poetic moments. A near-great book for bedtime.

A lovely little children's book, full of magical description and fanciful drawing. Innocence and discovery with a cleverly precocious attitude. Little one's in daycare or at bedtime will love it. See you soon... moon!

Cute, Heartfelt, Funny, Wonderful!,
This review is from: See You Soon Moon (Paperback)
My friend recommended that I give this book to my niece and she LOVES it! The poetry is delightful and the illustrations are breathtaking. What I love about it is that it creates a beautiful world that allows my niece to open up her own imagination. This is a must-have for any household with young ones!

Loved This Book!,
This review is from: See You Soon Moon (Hardcover)
I gave my first copy of See You Soon Moon as a baby gift to a co-worker whose daughter is now three. More times than I can count, her father has told me that it is her favorite book, that she never tires of reading it. She points to the moon and says, "See you soon moon." The book is a simple idea written with poetry and humor, all the makings of a classic. I have since given it to several new parents, and years later, the response is always the same. The book is a treasure, and it is now my standard baby gift.

Read it before you buy it,
By Mitch Clifford (Stamford, CT) - See all my reviews
This review is from: See You Soon Moon (Hardcover)
Relying heavily on the cute cover and editorial review, we bought this book for our preschool children. We hate to belittle the efforts of creative people, especially children's authors. Although See You Soon... has some nice ideas, it does not go anywhere and does not say anything new. Rather than being "rife with pleasant repetition", the book is rife with clichés and rip off. As beautifully as the wording of Margaret Wise Brown's classic Goodnight Moon lulls children to sleep, this book under delivers and jars the imagination. Some people may enjoy the blueberry skies and the see ya laters, our family wishes we looked before we pressed `Add to Cart.'
