Bo Bice is back, y'all!,
By Donna Reynolds (Syracuse, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: See The Light (MP3 Download)
It's hard for me to review this album without thinking back over the nearly three years since I first heard Bo sing "Whippin' Post" on `American Idol.' He got my attention, and while he hasn't ever really lost it, that moment is still one of my favorites from his run on the show. It's the kind of music Bo was meant to sing, and finally, on `See the Light,' he's singing it!
From the rocking opening ("Witness") to an Allman-tinged finale ("Whiskey, Women, and Time"), Bo runs through a neat collection of country flavored rock tunes that are not just satisfying musically, but also lyrically. We hear a bit of Bo's angst in "Only Words," and his celebration of all things country on "Take the Country Outta Me." He rocks out on "This Train" and "Ain't Gonna Die." Particularly strong - "I'm Gone," "Sinner in a Sin," and "See the Light," but really, there's no one weak track on the album. Bo is back and doing it his way, and the end result is outstanding. Great album. If you loved Bo on Idol, you'll love `See the Light.'

See the Light Is The Real Thing,

This is the album all those who loved Bo on American Idol have been waiting for!!! It rocks. Each song is the kind that got us dialing in all night to vote for him on American Idol. It is the real Bo. His personality, his kind of music and best of all his VOICE! You can actually hear his gritty, emotion-packed voice coming through loud and clear. The lyrics are powerful too, a few favorites and some great newer ones, including those Bo wrote with Thomas Lee. Just a superb album!

Today's Southern Rock,
By Julie Y (N.Y.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: See The Light (MP3 Download)
If you loved Bo Bice on American Idol, you will enjoy this CD. Bo's vocals alternate between soaring, sensitive, gritty, and growling. The music is pure Southern Rock, with some of the legends of the genre sitting in with Bo for a rocking beat that hearkens Skynyrd and the Allmans, but all colored up with Bo. Clever songwriting - all tracks penned by Bice, some with talented collaborators like Chris Tompkins and Thomas Lee - invites repeat listening. My favorites include "I Ain't Gonna Die," a defiant rebel yell to all who have counted him out, "Whiskey, Women & Time," which I can hear as a barn-burning concert finale, "I'm Gone," which is instantly catchy, and "This Train," which has a comforting, familiar beat. All in all, this CD is a keeper, for all fans of Bo, old and new.

Michael P. Stevens' review is...,

idiotic, to say the least.
I like to browse the reviews before making a purchase, as well as sample the songs. I happened across the dumbest review I have ever seen in my life by Michael P. Stevens who gave the album 1 star because, and I quote, "he didn't like the video to Witness". I listened to the CD 3 times through and loved everything on it. Most humans judge songs from their sound, not their video. For those who read reviews prior to purchasing, please read his idiotic babble and tales of woe from the "streets", then read all the others who like music and judge from there. This CD is fantastic. I strongly encourage you to listen to the samples here on Amazon and buy it.

Outstanding!,

This is without a doubt the best CD I've heard in a long, long time. Bo Bice is in his element, creating the kind of music he was born to make. SEE THE LIGHT is Bo's music, Bo's way. No disrespect to Clive Davis and American Idol (who helped put Bo on the map), but this music runs circles around THE REAL THING. There's not a bad song on this one! "Witness" rocks, as do "Got Money" and "Ain't Gonna Die," while the soulful ballad "Only Words" weaves a spell around the listener. "I'm Gone," which is my favorite, grabs you and pulls you into Bo's magical world. The title track of "See The Light" sends a message--this is the REAL Bo Bice, and he's through compromising. Thanks to the added artistry of Thomas Lee, "This Train" simply screams "Play Me!" "Whiskey, Women and Time" and "Sinner In A Sin" are signature BB songs that many of his fans learned to love with the dual-disc version of the last CD. "Take The Country Outta Me" has a Travis Tritt feel and will find you involuntarily chair dancing!

Throughout his 2nd cd "See The Light". Bo shows exactly what got him all the attention in the first place. The cd is downright soulful and its coming straight from him to the listeners everywhere. Since he wrote/co wrote every song on this 10 track cd. Just about any and everything that you want music wise is hear for your listening pleasure. If you thought that Bo was done after his 1st effort which was okay. Then this one is sure to prove you wrong and believe me you'll be glad that you took the time out to check this stellar release from Bo Bice.
He's growing musically and lyrics wise also putting himself out there on just about every track and having fun doing it. "See The Light" and give this one a shot. Not a track on here that i wouldnt want to listen to again and again.

SEE THE LIGHT!,

I absolutely love SEE THE LIGHT! Yes, I am a die hard Bo Bice fan, and have been since he sang "Drift Away" on American Idol, but it was the "Whipping Post" night that really made me take notice as he delivered that song with such passion and fire that I knew he had SOUTHERN ROCK emblazoned on his soul. SEE THE LIGHT lets that brand shine! This is the strong, sexy, throaty Bo Bice sound that I feel in love with.
The tracks "I'm Gone" or "Witness" and "Ain't Gonna Die" are so powerful and emotional in their deliverance! "See The Light", "Got Money," "This Train," and "Whiskey Women And Time" are funky retro and fun tunes that makes your body move so you want to get up and dance. "Only Words," Sinner In A Sin" are plaintive love and life ballads that melt your heart. "Take The Country Out Of Me" erases all doubt that all Bo wants to do is to exude southern rock blues and jazz from all his pores onto his appreciative audience and have them begging for more! This album will not disappoint!
