Katie and her pals are back. A simple vacation turns into a who done it. Trapped on vacation in another country, Katie must defend herself and others. Can Katie take on pirates while both lost and stranded. She's unarmed except for her charms. If you do Vooodoo then this one's for you. Who knew an ex-cop could have such a vivid imagination."A Necessary End" on steroids. You won't want to put it down. Beauty and brains really are a good combination.

Okay with the dreary days of winter approaching, you might be looking for a inexpensive stayvacation escape to perk you up. Then "the Seed of Thetis" is just the book for you. Beautiful women, nice sunny, warm Caribbean setting, adventure, interesting blend of characters, what is not to like. Mix yourself a nice adult beverage, turn the heat up and pick this book up to transport you the beauty of Jamaica, with enough action to keep you turning the pages until you reach the unexpected finish.Shoveling the snow can wait, time to get your Katie Maguire fix and relax in Jamaica. I grew up reading Alistair McLean as a kid, find Gerry Mackey's work similar, but with a much warmer setting and cuter leading character.

Mr. Mackey did it again, what a great story! As in the first book of this series (A Necessary End) there's lots of action, comedy, and romance, along with some poignant scenes mixed in with scary, thriller stuff. Another classic example of good vs evil. All the true-to-life characters are realistically portrayed as normal, everyday folks who find themselves thrust into life and death situations from which they must either rise above their fears and personal shortcomings to survive . . . or give up and die. Some of them make it through, others don't. Believe me, once you pick up this book and start reading, you can't put it down. And the best part is, the author made me look great . . . again!

Let's see, what happens when you take a tall beautiful blonde police officer, her friends, pirates, Greek mythology, Jamaica, PT boats, horses, and some topless women and mix them all up? You get Gerry Mackey's new novel, Seed of Thesis.Oh, did I mention a tall beautiful blonde woman? That would be Katie Maguire; South Beach Florida's new police recruit whom Mackay damn near killed of in her first outing, A Necessary End. I'm not giving plot away as this is a series. Katie and her buddy Marty are on a cruise to recover from their last adventure when they take a horseback tour up the mountains. On that journey, there is an accident and Katie and company run into a group of pirates whose leader claims to be a descendent of the Greek hero Achilles. Things get tight, but Katie is a master of martial arts, and a quick thinking, level headed woman. Plus, her captors think she's a sorceress. Katie risks her life to save those of her friends, and some of her friends become heroes in their own right. Mackey sets up a nice story that has a fast-paced ending that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good action thriller with a strong female lead. Be careful though, Katie Maguire will grow on you.

If you liked the first Katie Maguire novel you will love this one. I was fascinated with the character development in addition to the actual plot which takes place in Jamaica. The author obviously did his research. Katie is once again a victim of circumstances and caught up in a dangerous situation. An action packed adventure reminding me of both "Indiana Jones" and "Pirates of the Carribean", it is a must read this summer. Animal lovers will enjoy the introduction of Voodoo, the mysterious horse. Marty, Katie's best friend will remind women of all those "nice guy" friends who always wanted more. Will Katie ever fall for Marty? Looking forward to the next Katie Maguire novel.
