Review

Seeds of Discovery is an amazing YA Novel that instantly drags you in with the mystery and suspense elements right from the beginning. I have yet to find a more artfully written novel that combines mystery with fantasy in my years of reading. -- Just Another Rabid Reader Reviews

Seeds of Discovery had my complete and undivided attention from the beginning until the end. The book may not have witches and vampires, but there was magic, not your typical magic as in spells and potions, but magic of a completely different kind... magic of love and friendship. -- Paperbook Princess Reviews

The book was a fun and quick read and when I finished I only wanted more. More of Quinn, more of Zander, more of Thomas...oh how I love Thomas, more of William, more of everyone. Thank goodness Roots of Insight releases January 9, 2012. -- Better Read than Dead Reviews

More About the Author

Breeana Puttroff has loved making up stories since she could talk. For many years, her biggest audience for those stories was the fantastic students she had the privilege of teaching.
One summer afternoon, while she was picnicking in the beautiful mountains of her Colorado home with her little girl, she saw an old, broken stone bridge, and she just knew there was a story inside. Six months later, the Dusk Gate Chronicles was born.
These days, she runs a small business and writes from home while planning math lessons, digging caterpillars out of garbage disposals (oops!), discovering how to make new colors out of crayons melted in the dryer, and drinking lots of coffee (and occasionally tea).
She loves it when readers connect with her on Facebook or Twitter, especially if they have new recipes for disastrously good times with kids.

Breeana holds a B.A. in English from the University of Northern Colorado, and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction and Literacy from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA.

Seeds of Discovery is an amazing YA Novel that instantly drags you in with the mystery and suspense elements right from the beginning. I have yet to find a more artfully written novel that combines mystery with fantasy in my years of reading.

I never know what to expect from independent authors who are not represented by the large publishers. I came upon this book by accident, through contact with the author on a blogging site. When I sat down to read, my mind was a blank slate, trying to have no expectations whatsoever. What I discovered in this novel was beyond anything I could have imagined. Those of you who know me know how much I love a good fantasy story, but this one just put me over the top in my love for the genre.

Quinn is a girl who pretty much any teenage girl could relate to, and you are instantly drawn to her. But Quinn cannot leave a mystery unsolved and, in trying to figure out what secret William is hiding, she gets sucked into an adventure she could never have imagined in her wildest dreams. In a way, it is also a journey of self discovery, though that is not the obvious element of the story.

Quinn finds herself in a whole new world that she never knew existed, a whole new plane of existence, if you will. When she finally gets life to return to "normal," she finds herself torn between the boy she has known all of her life, and a group of strangers that, in the time frame of the "real world" she has only known for a day or so.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable read that I could not walk away from, and I found myself staying up late and foregoing sleep just to get to the end and find out what was going to happen next, only to realize that there are two more books, which I cannot wait to read. I would strongly encourage any fan of YA/Fantasy Fiction to pick this one up. It is a must read!

What an AMAZING story written by Breeana Puttroff. Seeds of Discovery (Dusk Gate Chronicles) is a breath-taking journey that takes the young or adult reader into a whole new world of undiscovered magic. Readers will be left rooting for either team William, team Thomas, or team Zander as the main character, Quinn Robbins, is torn between her life at home and this new magical world.

This book is a perfect blend of adventure, mystery, romance, and a thriller novel. Perfect fiction to read and escape your every day worries. You will NOT be able to put this book down!

This author will soon be a household name and have a huge following of readers. I predict that Ms. Puttroff will be soon be held in high regard for her literature, and she will be lumped together with other famous female authors, such as Jodi Piccult, Agatha Christie, Stephenie Meyer, and J.K. Rowling.

This is my first auto-delivered wireless book! I am now addicted to downloading ebooks to my Kindle. And, I cannot wait to own this in hardcover and paperback.

What I liked about it:
the book starts off like a typical YA novel-high school, popular guys, not-so popular girl- but then it surprises you.
how sensible the female lead was.
it was the perfect length.
ended at just the right place.

What I didn't like about it:
lack of details-I never thought I'd been the way to notice that! The flora & fauna unique to the kingdom were not described in too much detail.

A good book to curl up with and spend some hours of relaxed reading.

This book is great for all ages. Finally a SAFE and CLEAN read for our young people! I enjoyed it a great deal, and ended up buying every book in the series, all of which were equally good reads! I can't wait for the next book! Breeana Puttroff has a great fan site as well, and interacts with her fans through facebook. Good clean fun!

This series is going to be amazing and I cannot wait to read the next. The easy flow of the story and the characters are down to earth, which naturally evolves into a page turner.

Quinn is a typical teenage girl, going to school, having friends and even a potential boyfriend. William is classed as a loner and nobody seems to notice or pay him attention. One day Quinn notices William walking toward a bridge and doesn't understand what he is up to. She sees him a again and her curiosity is piqued. Deciding to follow him, she ends up in another world entirely. Some how she has walked through a gate and into another place.

Quinn is now a guest of this new realm and gets to discover a whole new way of life and adventures.

I highly recommend this to all fantasy readers. The adventures that the reader follows with Quinn is addictive and you can't help but fall for the characters and the world Breeana creates.

I really wanted to love this book because I liked the writing style and the characters but the story itself just kind of left me wanting...wanting more excitement or conflict or action or something. As I read, I just kept waiting for something to happen to suck me in, to make me more excited to keep reading. The story started off intriguing, but once Quinn solved the "mystery" of what happened to William, it became a little too low-key for me. I was intrigued by the world Quinn finds herself in and the people there but I wanted more to happen. Also, I know this is the first book in a series, but the story just ended. I felt like it was unfinished. It almost felt like this was the first half of a book rather than a complete book in and of itself.

All in all it's not a bad book but it's not outstanding either. I am curious, however, to see what happens with Quinn and her friends, both old and new. I don't know what Ms. Puttroff has in store for the next book but since this one isn't all that long, I wonder if putting the two together into a larger novel might not be a better move.
