Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

An archeological dig in present-day Melissandra, Colo., a string of unsolved late-19th-century murders in the same town, two psychic women and a secret worth killing for all accelerate the pace of Carol Cail's (Who Was Sylvia?) The Seeds of Time. Delia Pitman, a barroom dancer in the 1800s, makes contact with Annie Darrow, an archeologist on a dig 100 years later with her son and a sexy assistant, Jake; the women may be able to save each others' lives.

From Library Journal

Female psychics from two eras connect in a way that leads to prevention of a present crime and solution of a past one. Anthropologist Annie Darrow searches for Paleo-Indian remains near a Colorado ghost town. Unashamedly using her psychic powers for direction, she unearths what is apparently a Native American skeleton, as well as messages left for her by a psychic who lived in the town in 1881, when a serial murderer killed several prostitutes. The dead psychic warns Annie that someone will attempt to kill her, too. Nifty premise, atmospheric detailing, and uncanny characterization; recommended.##+|0380808900Bates, Karen Grigsby. ISBN 0-380-80890-0. pap. $13. ~Journalist/sleuth Alex Powell and her friend Paul discover a colleague dead minutes before he was scheduled to accept an award at a national black journalists' conference. Police subsequently enlist Alex's help in finding the murderer: Alex knows the potential suspectsas well as the victim's player mentalityand has crucial entrEe into black journalism circles. Flip and jaunty, Alex offers an alternative narrative view, sometimes critical, often humorous, and sometimes self-directed but always entertaining. A highly promising series debut.

4.0 out of 5 stars Time Takes On A New Meaning, May 31, 2001

This review is from: The Seeds of Time (Paperback)
Delia Pitman and Annie Darrow both possess the ability to look into the future however, while Annie lives in the present, Delia lives in the 1800s. With one hundred years between them there is no way the two women could know one another and yet they connect in their minds through their psychic abilities and aid one another is solving a murder as well as preventing their own.

Carol Cail has experctly combined the past with the present in "The Seeds of Time." Her picture painting description and events of the past make you feel as if you once lived in that era while she keeps the events of the present intacked as well. Whether you believe in the psychic abilities of others or not, if you're looking for a good entertaining mystery this book will not disappoint you.

Another fun book by Carol Cail. Two women, separated by only a hundred years, work together in ways neither understand to help the other. A fascinating concept involving a bustling gold town and a vacant ghost town with so much in common. You won't be sorry for reading this tale.
