This review is from: Seeing with New Eyes: Highlights of the Michael C. Carlos Museum Collection of Art of the Ancient Americas (Paperback)
The Carlos Museum in Atlanta, is like many museums in the world. Seldom, if at all, visited by local area residents. Yet, like many unloved, un-noted, or unvisited museums it has a fabulous collection, and an excellent curatorial staff. Particularly in pre-Columbian, Costa Rican art. This catalog fills in what "Art of Costa Rica: Pre-columbian painted and sculpted ceramics from the Arthur M. Sackler collections", does not. Indeed for Rosiales Engraved pieces there is no comparison. All dealers in Costa Rican art of this period have this book and it behooves any collector of the same to protect himself/herself to do the same.
