5.0 out of 5 stars Very awesome and helpful understanding
This is the best sociology book I have have ever been forced to study. It's easy to follow and interesting to read. The glossary can be looked up either by chapter or alphabetically. There are critical thinking questions at the end of each chapter to get you to think about what you just read. There are also summaries at the end of each chapter to quickly explain the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Had to buy it for school, April 25, 2013

Not what I was expecting. It's hard to explain why. If you are required to buy it for school, buy it. Otherwise, not a good read.

This is the best sociology book I have have ever been forced to study. It's easy to follow and interesting to read. The glossary can be looked up either by chapter or alphabetically. There are critical thinking questions at the end of each chapter to get you to think about what you just read. There are also summaries at the end of each chapter to quickly explain the overview of the entire chapter. The author is like a real person, not someone who writes/speaks in scientific jargon. I am sad this semester is ending, because I know there are not a lot of books like this out there. I hope you enjoy this book if you decide to purchase it.

Decent overall text. I wish there were chapter summaries, more examples, and references to websites and videos. Another helpful idea would be to include a sample papers in APA and ASA formats. This text is required for my SOC101 course. Not one you would want to buy to learn any significant amount of any topic in depth.

It was required for my class. Read the first two chapters and did not read anymore, so boring. Its easier just to take notes and listen instead of buying this book. The book was in good physical shape.
