5.0 out of 5 stars Seeing the Unseen: Your eyes will be opened
I really enjoyed this book. Very logical and thoughtful with scripture to back up major points. The NIV translation of the Bible uses the terms rulers, authorities, and powers of this dark world to represent spiritual forces of evil. 2.0 out of 5 stars Despite Reviews - Not Biblical
This is very poor exegesis on author Joe Beam's part. There are several destinations and holding areas in the spiritual domain for demons. There is Tartarus, the Bottomless Pit, and Gehenna.

The Bible says that 1/3 of the angels followed Lucifer in rebellion. This number became the demonic hosts. I wonder if this author believes that the demons that possessed...

5.0 out of 5 stars Seeing the Unseen: Your eyes will be opened, September 24, 2004
This review is from: Seeing the Unseen (Paperback)
I really enjoyed this book. Very logical and thoughtful with scripture to back up major points. The NIV translation of the Bible uses the terms rulers, authorities, and powers of this dark world to represent spiritual forces of evil. Joe Beam goes into great detail to define these terms and brings you into the great drama that took place on the cross. There was a great battle that took place in the history of creation. God chose to be a humble child who grew up to be a carpenter to end the war and defeat sin, death, and Satan. There is one chapter that is a melodrama in which Joe Beam takes us right to the cross where Satan confronts his Creator. Satan thinks he won by killing his King. Only to realize that his pride and arrogance helped save mankind from God's wrath. Seeing the Unseen takes you into the cold war that is still battling on until the day Christ returns. My faith was strengthened and yours might be to if you decide to read this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Seeing the Unseen: Preparing Yourself for Spiritual Warfare, January 5, 2004
This review is from: Seeing the Unseen (Paperback)
I loved this book. While i grew up a Christian, and attend church regularly i was never introduced to this side of things. Joe does a great job of dividing between what is and is not scriptural. In the process he informs the reader about the dark world that satan rules, but more importantly about the power over it in Jesus Christ. i enjoy that he laid his opinion out as just that, and his opinions are really quite fascinating. .

Great book, especially for the evangelical Christian, God Bless. . .

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Biblical!, November 15, 2002
This review is from: Seeing the Unseen (Paperback)
In response to the review that said the book was contraversial: Joe Beam never implies that all "wicked people" who die will become demons. He simply says that demons are the souls of the wicked dead based on the definition of the word and what people believed at the time. Not every wicked dead person. But every demon is a soul of a wicked dead person.

To sum it up, if the people of that time believed that demons were the souls of the living dead, and historically we can prove they did, then it would not make since for Jesus to use the word (demon) in a different context then they would understand. Beam's theory is very logical, as is the rest of the book.

For those interested, the subject is discussed quite frequently at a web site forum that also features articles by Joe Beam on it's main page on occasion. The points Joe makes are very difficult to argue with. The evidence is stacked.

If you are a Christian who struggles with temptation, or simply a Christian seeking knowledge, order the book. Chances are you will learn a great deal from an authority on the subject of spiritual warfare.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must read for all Christians!!!!, November 20, 2004
This review is from: Seeing the Unseen (Paperback)
This is by far one of the best bible studies I have ever read. Mr. Beam provides an in depth study of spiritual warfare. Using scripture, he explains exactly what angels and demons are, how they know us and how they influence our lives. More importantly, he uses scripture to show us how we can protect ourselves. I've been a Christian all my life, but after reading this book, my eyes have been opened. I've read the book twice and plan to read it again. I also plan to purchase and give copies to friends and family for Christmas. I respect Mr. Beam as an author of tremendous integrity. He uses scripture to back up everything in the book. When he is expressing his opinion, he clearly tells you. Thanks Mr. Beam for helping us in our spiritual journey. Louis Moore

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Study!, October 4, 2000
This review is from: Seeing the Unseen (Hardcover)
Joe Beam uses amazing logic and insight in offering you this study on the unseen spiritual world. I have read this book 3 times and I learn something new each time. If you want to strengthen your faith and learn how to fight the spiritual war much better-read this book. The only way you can fight the enemy is if you know who the enemy is. Joe Beam unmasks the enemy and his methods.

Joe Beam has written an excellent book on spiritual warfare,I think every new convert should be given this book, Satan is a real enemy, and it is a constant battle between good and evil. Joe Beam helps the reader recognize the enemy. I wish I had read this book two years ago after being Baptized, I was so nieve, but I have learned so much from " Seeing the Unseen"

We are using this right now in a college-age bible class my husband and I and another couple lead. It is one of the most ineteresting studies I have ever been a part of. I definitely recommend it for studies or for personal reading. It is very much scripturally accurate. All of Mr. Beam's views are backed up with scripture and he invites you to develop your own thoughts. The book is a great jumping place for begining discussion - especially in a group that can be all too quiet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spiritual Warfare - its not just for apostles..., May 26, 2007
This review is from: Seeing the Unseen (Paperback)
Excellent book, well written and uderstandable without having to be theologist. This book is well balanced in its presentation of fact, with many illustrative examples of experience and practial application. This is a topic that most people avoid, because it is can be difficult to mentally grasp what we cannot see, and because society shuns or thinks those who beleive in such things irrational or fanatical. This book is neither, and makes the Christian aware of the spiritual battles going on within and around us. It is a "must read" for those leading spritual groups within thier churches, and anyone who desires to open their eyes. Don't skip a single chapter!

If you want an in-depth, completely biblical look at the spiritual warfare that is waging around us everyday, you absolutely MUST read this book. I own several books on this subject and this one is far and above, hands down the best. Joe Beam shows you, through the scriptures, the origin of Satan and the demons. He shows you how Christ has defeated them and how we can have strength and encouragement through HIM. Mr. Beam also shows how God uses HIS angels to minister to and help us. Definitely buy this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS BOOK IS HOT!!!!, March 17, 2006
This review is from: Seeing the Unseen (Paperback)
I came across this book while finding myself wandering into a Christian bookstore. The information/informativeness of this book is out-of-sight! You won't learn these things by just going to church or reading your Bible (the Bible is truly complex!). This book will give you a better understanding of the scriptures in its relation to angels, demons, and the devil himself. Alot of things I hadn't a clue about until reading this book. I haven't finished it yet, as I have just started, but once you begin, you won't be able to put it down...

This book answers alot of spiritual questions and problems I've had, especially concerning angels (good and evil) and explaining what demons really are.
