Book Description

Charnwood Library August 1, 1998
She is known as the woman on Bluebell Hill. To the drivers who have seen her, she is a mystery, a ghostly figure. One minute the road is clear and suddenly she appears from nowhere. There's a squeal of brakes and when the driver rushes out, horrified, she is nowhere to be seen. Dave Walters is a contented family man -- until she singles him out. From that moment his life and those of his loved ones are turned upside down.

Editorial Reviews

From AudioFile

Actor Nigel Davenport uses precisely the right mix of drama and candor to convey the eerie mystery of this modern English ghost story. He reads the entire cast of different ages and genders with alacrity and aplomb. An innocent dinner at a country inn involves Dave Walters and his loving family in a story of love, hate, murder, and cruelty. Tirelessly reading the involved plot, Davenport imparts authenticity and reality to a totally unreal situation. If you don't believe in ghosts, explain the woman on Bluebell Hill. This review is from: Seeker (Paperback)
Family man Dave Walters takes his wife to a country inn for a celebratory birthday dinner. The restaurant owner is a smarmy, rather creepy character who nearly spoils the evening for them. On the drive home, Dave is startled by the sudden appearance of a young woman on the road. Wait, was she really there or just a figment of his imagination?
And so the hauntings begin. The Seeker is a rather run of the mill ghost story that never quite attains the spookiness or drama needed to invoke fear or uneasiness in the reader. Not a bad story, just not great, with characters that don't quite come to life (dead or alive!)
