Wow, I just love the way the story starts building slowly and then the action starts...

These bears are devoted to each other and also to their mission, despite some grave doubts, and facing difficult situations. This book six takes place in the Arctic.

United once again, Toklo, Lusa, Kallik, and Ujurak continue across the ice. Conditions are hard and especially difficult for the black bear and grizzly bears who are not used to the icy cold weather,never-ending snow, and limited food sources. The bears are hopeful, believing that they're on the right course and following the guiding star constellation. When the bears reach land they find out that the bears living there are sick.

This was so heartbreaking, and exciting story!
The author has created an interesting bear world and animal action&adventure series.
Erin Hunter is actually many different writers, and not just one person. The author has written three sets of Warrior cat -books, and several separate Warrior stories to tell the background stories of the clan cats.
I would recommend "Warriors: Omen of the Stars: The Fourth Apprentice" to children/YA/adults who like cats, action and adventure. Other similar books besides the Warrior -series, that the readers might like is the new Animellis Island -series.

Bought this book for my daughter's 14th birthday. She has read the rest of the series. Kept her occupied for several days of voracious reading.

A Kid's Review on September 20, 2013
Format: Paperback
Four bears have been traveling together on the endless ice near the North Pole. One is a black bear named Lusa. There is a polar bear named Kallik and two brown bears named Toklo and Ujurak. Ujurak has a special talent, it's shape shifting! The four bears find an island full of musk ox.

The four bears find a bear tribe. The leader of the tribe is an old she-bear named Aga. She seems to be expecting Lusa. Aga calls Lusa "Tungulria." Tungulria means black one. She also calls Toklo, "Shesh," that means brown one. Unalaq, a grouchy he-bear, doesn't like Toklo. Illa, Aga's daughter, and her brother Tunerq like to help out with the hunting. Yakone, a he-bear with a tint of red in his fur, is brothers with Unalaq. Aga thinks the Iqniq are leaving (Iqniq are the bears in the stars).

Kallik finds a lost bear cub. She adopts it and named it Kissumi. (Kissumi means alone.) She found him next to his dead mothers body. The bear tribe said that Sura (a she-bear in their tribe) died and that her cub is missing. Kallik knows that Kissumi is the missing cub and she will eventually have to return Kissumi to his real home.

The next day, Lusa and Kallik go out hunting and find a half frozen lake. A lot of seals live in it, so they think it is a good spot to go hunting. Then, they find a pipe squirting out oily black water (oil) into the lake! The black water smells disgusting. They wonder how the seals live in it. They catch a seal and are about to eat it but, it is covered in the gross black water (oil). Lusa says they shouldn't eat it. Kallik agrees. Kallik remembers Sura next to a seal covered in black water when she died. She wasn't sure if the seals were killing the bears, but she still had a bad feeling about it. They bring the seal back to the den to show Toklo and Ujurak.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! But there was a few disappointments. Like how Ujurak died, Kallik left Kissimi, and I CAN NOT imagine a white bear with a reddish tinge. (Out of all the bears, Toklo is my favorite.)

I love animal stories. I really liked the Ga'Hoole books, so I decided to add this series to my Kindle too. I have yet to start it, but I am looking forward to reading all of Erin Hunter's books.
