This review is from: Seeking Provence: Old Myths, New Paths (Armchair Traveller) (Hardcover)
I really had to force myself to stick with this book for about the first sixty pages. The cover was so attractive that I felt that the book should be good, but I have been fooled before & almost returned it to the library numerous times. I kept plugging away and then around page 60, it got really good! I loved the way the author kept popping back and forth between his travels in Provence, art, history, and his personal life & family. His philosophical musings on Nietzhe (sp?)and Cezanne were very interesting and tied in beautifully with the landscape. Overall, I would recommend this book but skip the first part & start in Chapter 2 or so.
