Best NEW band-Best album of the year!,
By
This review is from: Seemless (Audio CD)
After one listen of this CD i knew immediately that this band was different than anything else out there right now. Comparisons to COC? i dont know maybe the fact that its not speedmetal and just good ol fashioned hard rock with an edge. the lyrics rock. the music rocks. the singer is excellent. the songs are memorable and melodic. i cant get this CD out of my player. if i was going to die tomorrow and i could only listen to one CD...this would be the one i would choose.

Great cd,
By Jesse Dutkiewicz "Adam Leach" (New York) - See all my reviews

I'll be honest, when I first heard of Jesse Leach leaving Killswitch Engage, and Killswitch Engage being one of my favorite bands at the time, I was a bit pissed off, and when I heard about Seemless being nothing like Killswitch, I thought I would never even listen to it, but I did and it was amazing, jesse leaches vocals are much clearer now and you can understand the true capacity of his voice, as well as the great hard rock n roll blues riffs pumped out by Pete cortese along with the great drumming by Derek Kerswill, and basslines by Jeff Fultz, I'd say that Seemless is doing alright, I happen to be a bigger fan of old Killswitch, But right behind that would be seemless cause my expectations for the band were alot lower, and they proved me wrong by far.

Exactly What the Doctor Ordered,

I must admit that the main reason I bought this album was because I missed Jesse at the front of KSE, so when I heard he had a new band I was eager for anything he put out. From the early reviews of this album I knew it would be very different from KSE so I tried to not expect it to be KSE part 2 but sadly I did anyway. Once I heard it I knew right away it was different and truth be told I was skeptical about it because nothing jumped out at me about it. However after setting aside the Killswitch bias and listening to it for what it is I found I had a Excellent album on my hands. No, Jesse is not screaming as much here but he still has a great vocal range none the less, there is great guitar work and the drums keep the album moving along. Great songs on here include Endless (which reminds alittle of Tool) Lay My Burden Down, and Soft Spoken Sanity. This has very basic Metal/Rock N Roll sound to it pointing to the days of Black Sabbath. Finally we have a band that will look past the money and fame of the music industry to make music in it's purest form, something we have been starving for. So thank YOU Seemless!

Seemless ...... this is what rock and roll is all about,

Like many of people have stated when talking about Seemless, don't expect the sound of the former bands these guys were in. This is a very good thing, especially if you are looking for a band that is doing the rock and roll thing in a fresh way. This is a very complete first record that just makes me excited for the future of this band. I wanted to put four and half stars, but not for the reason you may think. I wanted it to symbolize that Seemless didn't unload the whole gun, we will get to see more live and upcoming releases. It is great to see every one of these band members back in the music business and kicking. I especially say this for Pete Cortese and Jesse David Leach. I'm a huge Overcast and Killswitch Engage fan, seeing a new direction like this further proves they are extra special. The music is tight, good guitar playing (I love Cortese taking a Tony Iommi approach with riffers, bends and such and all the other elements are strong too. There is good tribute to what bands like Down, Corrosion of Conformity, and Sabbath have done. Seemless is going in their own direction at the same time, they are doing their own thing. There is an excellent balance of moods throughout the album which can keep the interest of even a casual listener. It is not a bad thing if your checking this band out because you like the members past work. If you love music as I do, this is such a treat. I'm am excited about this band and look forward to what they have to give to the music world. What are you waiting for? Check them out and enjoy! Rock on!

Seemless Rock!,
By Marcy D'arcy "Marcyy" (New York) - See all my reviews

Actually I had gotten this cd back in March in 2004 with the first released copies and I thought it was awesome and even though I haven't had the chance to see them live yet the songs on cd just show how awesome the whole band is and I love the songs jesse wrote in this album and the way he sings and everything just falls into place. Any fans of corrosion of comformity and sound garden will love seemless and this cd is really cool to listen to and just chill while listening to it. It's nothing like KsE but it is really creative with awesome guitar riffs and it puts you on that melow state. I haven't gotten the remastered version, however I do recomend this cd to everyone once again because it's something different from listening to all the hardcore metal bands that are way too many out there. 11/10. GET IT!

It is just that good,
By blackmetal1 "Shadow" (Baldwinsville, NY United States) - See all my reviews

This is not metal-core. Thank god!! This is music for the fan against what is big at the moment. Nu metal has passed, and Metal-core has failed. With that in mind, the sound of Seemless goes beyond today's standards of instrumental music. Which has probably reached an all time low. Think of it this way, if Soundgarden was known for being the second coming of Led Zepplin, then Seemless could be known as the second coming of Soundgarden. However, Seemless is a group that mixes all that is right for rock, and combines it with their own sound. So you now have a band that will and should build its own legacy, such as the previous bands mentioned did. Buy it and get into it, and celebrate the beauty of real musicians.

Not a COC ripoff, just good "southern rock",
By who? (New Orleans, LA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Seemless (Audio CD)
People may say that this album is a COC ripoff, or they may say something else which would create an assumption of emulation, but people need to realize that all music is in fact emulation.Interrpretation, is more important. Now I do see where the last reviewer's comments regarding the COC emulation are relevant, but in no way is this a straight copy. I give the album a perfect rating, and I have been listening to this album for months pretty heavily. I do listen to more than metal and rock, and being from the south I am a fan of typical "southern elements", I too am a huge COC, Down, Clutch fan, etc. but I really think that these guys did a damn good job on this album, being from New Jersey, they did a great job just capturing that kind of muddy southern groove. I reccomend this to anyone who appreciates the following: COC, Down,Clutch, Pantera, Kyuss, or any other solid grooving rock/metal bands.

This CD kicks and stomps,
By Driggs Swixx (Maryland, USA) - See all my reviews

The first time I listened to this album I thought, eh, just another rock-wannabe-band-rippoff, but as the reviewer below said, after a few listens I really started to realize how talented and original this band is. One of the facts that stands out in this album is that it's POSITIVE (and they sound way better than creed ;-)). No talk of hate, renegade robots, or mutually assured destruction.

Stong Blues Rock from Hardcore boys!,
By
This review is from: Seemless (Audio CD)
I don't think I'm the only person who was excited to see Jesse David (former Killswitch Engage singer) in a new band and performing. From someone who always preferred Jesse's vocal stylings, it was a relief to see him singing again... I just never thought it would be in this medium.Seemless was formed by a collection of ex members of hardcore bands (Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Overcast) from the Massachusetts area and the breed of rock that they forge on their debut is, to say the least, unexpected. Jesse's long time affinity for classic rockers like Led Zeppelin is well known but to hear him sing on songs like "Something's Gotta Give" which has a Zep bent to it is quite another. Jesse's gift to express each vocal passage and give them that classic feel is undeniable. Think Zeppelin meets Soundgarden with a little Kyuss thrown in. This album would have been right in place in the early 90's just as it would have been great in the late 70's. Jesse still screams on this disc--but it's the tasteful screams of someone who has done the hardcore thing and realizes that maybe it wasn't his thing anymore. So at the beginning of "The Wanderer" and during the outro you can hear some of that guttural Jesse scream circa Killswitch, but otherwise, hardcore fans beware-- this is not a collection of all-star hardcore/metalcore hero's set on reeking havoc like there former bands--these guys just plan on rocking like their own classic hero's would be or still are. For fans of: Kyuss, Soundgarden, Led Zeppelin

The return,

When I first heard the clips from this album (off of the Seemless site) I was completely underwhelmed. The music sounded very boring and had nothing new to offer to the world. So, why'd I get this album then? I ended up picking up the album mainly because I have some kind of weird man-crush on Jesse Leach. I loved his contribution to the first two Killswitch Engage albums and I really wanted to hear more from him.I am very glad I got this album, it totally rocks. I don't really understand why I first thought those clips I heard were boring, I think the music is great. And Jesse's at top notch too, just great lyrics and great vocals. This album kinda reminds me of a totally non-drugged out, positive Down II. Good work fellas! |
