5.0 out of 5 stars If these are old times, more of them please!
Seems Like Old Time is still one of my all time favorite films. This film is almost too funny for its own good. A terrific throwback to the sophisticated comedies of the 30's and 40's updated for the 80's. It's too bad that they just don't make these kinds of comedies anymore. 3.0 out of 5 stars fun at the flicks
This is a feel good flick, guaranteed to take your mind, at least for a little while, off the serious challenge of living life. It is sometimes silly, often funny and features two actors who can be very funny when given the opportunity. Tired of horror? Of murder and politicla intrigue? Of serious filial relationships? Try this.

Goldie is in top form, Charles Grodin is so dry and wonderful and Chevy Chase should've never moved beyond this type of film. He and Hawn made magic before in Foul Play and it was great to see them together again. Buy it! Oh and keep any eye out for Aurora, the Parks' housekeeper and her infamous Chicken Pepperoni, no one can get enough of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is easily my family's favorite movie!!, January 25, 1999
By A Customer
If you appreciate the humor and ease of Chevy Chase and Goldie Hawn, you will love this movie. Charles Grodin does a fantastic job of playing the upstanding yet jealous husband in this entertaining romance. This movie has lifted my spirits, as well as my mothers and sisters, since it's release in the 80's.

This movie is a classic, and one of my all-time favorites. Goldie Hawn and Chevy Chase are in top form at the height of their careers. Charles Grodin and Robert Guilliame are also terrific in their roles. I highly recommend Seems Like Old Times!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hysterically funny, May 19, 2006
This review is from: Seems Like Old Times (DVD)
Hysterically funny, Goldie plays one of her best roles ever. When I first saw this on television I only caught a glimpse. I immediately rushed to the DVD store and was sorely disappointed when I found out they didn't carry it. Now a few years later it's available and I've been able to watch with my friends the entire movie. This movie is so funny and even though I'm not a Chevy Chase fan I loved every moment of this movie. Goldie plays a lovable attorney married to the district attorney. Their lives are interrupted when Goldie ex-husband shows up on the scene. I must say one of my favorite moments is when Goldie's housekeeper yells out the door, "I always knew I'd catch a robber hanging out with his family." A must-see movie you don't wanna miss this one.

Neil Simon's 1980 comedy starring Chevy Chase, Goldie Hawn, Robert Guillame, and Charles Grodin is a very, very funny movie, from start to finish. Nick Gardenia (Chase), is a divorced novelist who is living a simple, quiet life. He just wants to work on his book. But things start to go bad right away, as he is visited by two low-life crooks who want to use him as a decoy of sorts. Under the threat of death, or at least, serious bodily harm, he is forced to rob a bank, and as they all make their getaway, he is thrown from the car and left by the side of the road to fend for himself, as he is the one caught on the bank's surveillence camera. He is now a fugitive with all of the state's police force searching for him.

Desperate, he shows up at the home of his ex-wife, Glenda Parks (Hawn), a defense attorney, and his only hope. She is a very kind-hearted woman with a beautiful soul and a soft spot for the downtrodden, maybe she'll help? The problem is, her current husband, Ira Parks (Charles Grodin), is about to be appointed Attorney General, and if he finds Nick hiding in his house, he'll turn him in to the police, probably after a quick roughing up. And if anyone finds him there, Ira could easily lose all chances at his beloved Attorney General position, because his wife is harboring a fugitive. So Glenda has to hide Nick from Ira and everyone else as she tries to convince him to turn himself in, all the while they are about to throw an elegant dinner party celebrating Ira's good fortune, and Glenda has to play dumb, as if all is well.

As the plot unfolds, we see that Glenda still has some strong feelings for Nick, and she is very conflicted; ethically, she must defend Nick in court, but personally she must turn off her long dormant feelings for him. And Ira can't find out she has been harboring him. And the situation becomes more and more complex as a second dinner party approaches; The governor himself is invited this time, and Nick, through a series of strange twists, winds up helping to serve the food and drinks at this particular dinner party.

This film has large doses of physical and verbal humor throughout, chiefly Chase's pratfalls, per his days from "Saturday Night Live" (he was an original cast member in 1975), and Hawn's character's gradual breakdown from the stress of hiding her ex-husband from her current husband; Goldie Hawn is a very good comic actress, and in this particular story, she's brilliant.

It's an excellent screenplay, well-executed direction, and brilliant comedy throughout.

One caviat, if you expect a lot of extra features, or any features, for that matter, you'll be disappointed; there aren't any. But this is such a good movie, that shouldn't matter.

I have watched this movie many times since 1980, and laugh out loud every time.

Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Movie My Family Watches Once a Year, July 14, 2011

Goldie Hawn, Chevy Chase, Charles Grodin and an outstanding supporting cast (the butler, maid, and judge are all hilarious) set on the Northern California coast - terrific acting, very funny, great plot. My only wish is that Neil Simon would have made a sequel to this movie because the chemistry of the actors was phenomenal and very enjoyable. They don't make movies like this anymore. However, at least I can watch this movie over and over, and still enjoy it - even though I know what's going to happen - In my opinion - that's the mark of a classic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Hilarious, February 3, 2010
This review is from: Seems Like Old Times (DVD)
Simply Hilarious. What more needs to be said. The chemistry between Goldie and Chase is awesome.

"SCREWBALL COMEDY"??

Maybe.....But I fail to see how anybody, of any age group, even if they hate "screwball comedy", can NOT think this is hilarious.

Dont believe me? Watch it and form your own conclusion. 99% will think it is hilarious as judged by the near 5 star total rating and super high marks for sales of this movie...

The less then 1% who claim it is a dud? Get real!!

But, everybody is entitled to their opinion so I suggest if you havent seen this flick, watch and most will join the 99% who loved it...
