Great little unit at an unbelievably low price,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sega Genesis 3 Core System (Video Game)
First off, contrary to what someone has stated before me, the Genesis 3 DOES have stereo output! (If you have the optional stereo AV cables--it uses the same ones as the Genesis 2). This Genesis model is my model of choice. It is ultra small (about the size of a portable CD player) and ultra lightweight. You'll be amazed how tiny this model is. It makes a great space saver and because it weighs not more than a few ounces it is very portable. And out of the 700-1000 Genesis games out there there are only one or two that I heard don't work with this model (like VR Racing, which requires the old Genesis model's Z80 processor to work) but those couple of games that don't work stink anyway and are titles very few people have ever heard of. And how would you like to own a very fun game system that has literally HUNDREDS of games all available for about ... (on average) apiece? Bottom line: I love my Genesis 3. It is an outstanding system for young kids as well as true video game fans (people who don't need the latest and greatest and fancy 3D graphics, etc) Thanks, Majesco, for releasing it and thanks to Amazon for having it for sale!

I have a Sega Genesis 2, and I think that it is one of the best gaming systems out there! I'm glad that Amazon.com has the Sega Genesis for sale, and its brand new! The system itself is great, and there are over 700 Genesis games, so you'll be busy for a long time with this system! Plus, this system, the Genesis 3 is small, around the size of a portable dc player! Dang thats small! Hope you enjoy your new Sega Genesis Game Condsole!

Genesis 3 Why Not?,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sega Genesis 3 Core System (Video Game)
The Sega Genesis 3 is a unique little system that is a great buy if your original Sega is busted. It is very affordable and can be used whenever you need it. It can be taken on a vacation since it is so small and weighs so little. They have over 500 games for the Sega Genesis Systems. If you want some i recommend going into online auctions and look at the game choices available . Although cheating is not recommended by most people Game Genie is an excellent addition to your cheating experties.

Should you buy a Genesis 3?,

Here are some pros and cons on whether to buy a Genesis 3 system.Pros: Cons: In my opinion, I personally would rather own a Genesis 1 or Genesis 2 because you can use Virtual Racing, the Sega CD, the 32X, and the Game Genie on these systems. However, I would also like to buy a new (not used) Genesis system and this may be the only place you can find one at a very reasonable price. In conclusion, if you will not be using any of the above items (Virtual Racing, Sega CD and 32X, or Game Genie), I would recommend buying the Genesis 3. If you will be using these items, then I would suggest buying a Genesis 1 or 2 if you can find one.

Sega Genesis is still a great console.,

I remember way back in 1990, I was in middle school, and one day I was over one of my friend's house. There were a bunch of kids there and 2 of my friends were playing the new Sega Genesis he just got. They were playing the John Madden Football. I remember being blown away by the graphics, the way the field scrolled vertically in pseudo 3d, and I thought wow those players are huge. I had a NES back then and owned Tecmo Bowl, which was great, but my NES had stopped working due to its crummy design, and anyway this game blew Tecmo Bowl away by a longshot. Anyway to make a long story short, when the Genesis first came put it was really impressive. I finally got one a couple months later for my b-day, and it came with Sonic the Hedgehog. I remember really liking Sonic, but I knew I had to get Madden football. A couple days later I went out to this videogame store that use to sell new NES games for 60-70 dollars, looking for a used Madden, and I picked one up (for only 30 dollars, I couldn't believe it). I played Madden constantly by myself and with my friends. Sonic and Madden were the only two games I had for about 6 months or so, and then I remember hearing Madden 92 was coming out, complete with every NFL team. The original only had 16 cities. Madden 92 had all 28, though it wasn't licensed by th NFL at that point so, you just had the cities, the team colors, and the numbers of the players. Though, the players were based on their real life counterparts. My uncle and I picked up Madden 92 at Toys R US brand new for 50 dollars in it's cool plastic case (I loved those things) and we went home and popped it in. We were both hooked. I wound up selling the original Madden to a friend for 25 bucks so I was quite happy with that. I played Madden 92 more than any game prior or since. I played it on a regular basis for at least 2 years. I finally bought the new Joe Montana game in 94 for something different (and stat tracking) The stats were great, and the graphics were good, but the gameplay fell way short of Madden's. My uncle was as hooked as I was, and we wound up buying Sportstalk Baseball (an above average baseball game with robotic play by play, even back then I wasn't that impressed, Mario Lemiuex Hockey (a decent hockey game. I wanted NHL by EA, but my uncle actually payed the full price for this one and I got a free puck with it!), and Arnold Palmer Golf, which is actually a great golf sim that I grew addicted to. I would kick my uncle's ... in all the games except baseball, which I would still win abou two thirds of the time, compared to 90 % in football, and 95 % in hockey and golf. My uncle gave up trying to beat me in hockey and golf, but we played Sportstalk Baseball and Madden regulary. I have a lot of great memories because of my Sega Genesis. It was the first console I played where the sports games (especially Madden) seemed so realistic. Their are plenty of other genres like the Sonic games, and the Sega arcade conversions (6 in 1 pack cartridge is great for this. It comes with Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Super Hang On, Revenge of Shinobi, Columns, and Sonic). Games today are dirt cheap, and the gameplay holds up even today, and even the graphics are pretty good still (as long as you don't compare them to a ps2 for ex.).My recommendations- Madden series NHL series World Series Baseball series Sonic games 6 in 1 game pack

What a great deal,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sega Genesis 3 Core System (Video Game)
This really is a great deal for the Sega Genesis. I have looked and looked for Sega Genesis systems online, only to find ones that are used and overpriced. But this right here is only 20 bucks, and it is new, not used. Amazing. I had a Genesis system before and loved it but it got messed up after a while. Now that I have it again, I can play all my old favorites. This is a MUST BUY.

I have a grandson who started playing the Sega Genises when he was 2 years old. He is now 4 and has mastered not only the Sega Genises, but also the Nintendo and Playstation. He can and does hold his own with children and adults of all ages. He has a Sega Genises at home and a Playstation at my house. He has 52 Sega games and 20 Playstation games. For his age, I would pick the Sega any day. He goes thru at least one Sega a year. Some of his Playstation games are scratched, but he CAN'T do that to the Sega games. The Sega is very inexpensive and so are the games. I am so glad that someone is still selling the Sega Genesis. THANK YOU.

This system is great. I bought one used for my kids for Christmas and they havn't put it down since. It's small and durable especially if you have small children. The games are inexpensive to buy, which is great if you are on a tight budget. I would recommend it to anyone. YOU CAN'T GO WRONG...BUY IT.
