5.0 out of 5 stars This is really the new upgraded Sega Rally
This game is really great. All the joy of Sega Rally with upgraded graphics, environments and overall effects(water splashes, mud, snow, etc). I like all types of racing games and for Sure Sega Rally Revo earns recognition for what it is. There is no history mode or car mod like in NFS or other racers, in stead you get a lot of Tournaments in different categories, win...

versus
3.0 out of 5 stars I only bothered to play it a few times.
The menu drove me (pun intended) crazy! You have to click through five or six menus just to race! Then you have to wait for the game to load... Forget it. I played this on a Core 2 Quad 6600, with GTX 285 and still could not max it out...

This game is really great. All the joy of Sega Rally with upgraded graphics, environments and overall effects(water splashes, mud, snow, etc). I like all types of racing games and for Sure Sega Rally Revo earns recognition for what it is. There is no history mode or car mod like in NFS or other racers, in stead you get a lot of Tournaments in different categories, win points in the tournaments and unlock more tracks and car categories, also has online play and single race modes. The tracks are really good, snow, tropical, canyon, etc, all very detailed and fun, the cars look really nice and handle like a true Arcade Rally game. You can spend hours playing to improve your tournament scores, enjoying every moment. Highly recommended.
It is basically a port of the 360 version, and as most racing games a controller pad (analog stick and pressure sensitive trigger) or wheel should be used.
I got an Athlon X2 4200, 2 GB DDR2, Radeon 3650 512 DDR3, and I am able to use it at full settings with 2x antialiasing, playable all the time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent game for racing and rally, November 9, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Sega Rally Revo (CD-ROM)
I love racing games. This is one of my favorite racing games. I played the Sega Rally version released 5 years ago and I liked. This is an upgraded version that works in Vista with no problems. It even reconized my legacy wheel: Microsft Sidewinder ForceFeedback Wheel (from 2003). The graphics are awesome and the tracks change when you driver over it. Really deserves a space in your hard drive.

Have fun.

Great racing game... will run on Windows 7 (with the patch) The game has very good graphics and sound, the tracks are varied and fun to race. The mud is realistic and the sound is convincing... Better than any of the NFS games of late,

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of Time - Avoid, November 4, 2008

Looked like a good game for my young son...too bad it has yet to work! First it would'nt install and then when I got around that it would not start. As with the others I have more than enough CPU/Graphics power to run this and I have 30+ games that do work on this PC. If you look at the forums at Sega, you will see several theories for why it does'nt work ranging from missing install files to the type of controller (it seems to favour the Xbox 360 controller). Sega support seems to blame my controller (Logitech Runblepad which works great with every other program out there!) and they are not really interested in issuing an update to let it run with something other that the Xbox 360 controller. Considering that this is a "Games for Windows" title and that "Seal" is supposed to indicate a certain amount of ease in installing/running a Windows game, not sure what this title says about this initiative!

As for myself, I have wasted too much time on this title already...Buy "Dirt" or "Grid" instead.

Anyone wanna buy my copy? I did'nt think so!

5.0 out of 5 stars One Of My Favorite Games Of 2007, January 13, 2008
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Sega Rally Revo (CD-ROM)
As a long time fan of Sega Rally, even enjoying the import Sega Rally 2006 for what it was. I was skeptical at first hearing that Revo would be developed by a team outside of Sega Japan. Well after playing the PC demo for the first time back in October. I was so happy that the gameplay reminded me of the momentum based, power sliding original arcade game. That I could not wait for the final release. Sure Sega Rally is as basic as games come, not offering up many features or much realism. Although what you do get is a game that is fun every time you play it.

That to me is far more worth the purchase price than a game with hundreds of unlockables, customizable options, and other extra crap that keeps you busy but has nothing to do with playing the actual game. I don't need fluff. I want a game that is fun and easy to get into at anytime that also challenges me, and Sega Rally Revo is it. Yeah the AI can be questionable at times, but the challenge never feels so overwhelming that you don't want to play.

The handling is perfect with the XBOX 360 controller. Also I'm running the game on Vista Ultimate 64bit with 2GB of ram and it plays flawlessly with all of the settings on high. The game did freeze on me once when I paused, but afterwards I updated my video drivers and downloaded the SR Revo Patch and all was perfect again. So I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys racing games. Its fun, fast(yes even in 30fps), and the graphics are beautiful.

So what if it doesn't have damage models, has invisible borders stopping you from leaving the track, and the cars don't handle as realistically as the ones in the real world. Its a video game for goodness sakes. Stop taking a hobby thats supposed to be fun so darn seriously.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just a side order., February 10, 2010
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Sega Rally Revo (CD-ROM)
You have got to play this game with a controller, preferrably an XBOX one in which this game was designed for. It is playable by keyboard, but the unchangeable assignments are not too good. You have A and Z for throttle and , and . for steering (serious). You can, however, use keyboard mapping software to temporarily correct this. Bottomline, it is best to use an XBOX controller.

This game is very demanding of your computer's resources. Even if you have a high end system, try the demo first. I found the demo wasn't that different from the actual game, and was a great test for my system. But, be prepared, because just buying a dual processor system with tons of memory isn't going to necessarily cut it with this game, depending on what kind of performance you demand.

I found the gameplay ok. Don't expect anything that you could get from the Dirt series, Grid, Burnout or even Prostreet. This game is in its infancy compared to them. In fact, compared to buying food at restaurant, this game is just a side order. You would never play this as your main racing game, not even on your first day of purchase. The graphics and physics, even arcade physics are cheesy compared to the forementioned games. If you want top notch, don't get it.

As a mentioned earlier, this game is only a side order when compared to buying food at a restaurant. It isn't bad, it isn't great, it is just not enough. Its excellent track deformation system shouldn't be what this game is touting about it. I don't go to Deltaco because they are about the only ones who grate their cheese every day. I go there, because their food is good. This game may grate its cheese every in form of its track deformation system, but unless its food (gameplay) is good, there isn't much of a point of playing it.

I'll be fair and rate this game 3 stars. There isn't much to do here, the racing is more tedious than fun. However, there is at least something to enjoy, and the gameplay isn't necessarily boring. Because the track deformation system is used effectively, and is not found anywhere else (that I know of), I will give this game 3 stars instead of 2.

1.0 out of 5 stars Steer clear of this game!!!!!!, February 2, 2009

One star is one too many!!! How fun? if I could ACTUALLY play it then I'd be in a position to judge!!

Fair warning-if you have a Logitech MOMO steering wheel, DO NOT waste your money on this game!!! It does not work with the Logitech MOMO wheel, or with the older Logitech Formula Force feedback wheel either.

Sega technical support is also NOT interested in making their game compatible with these products, and you will be wasting your time trying to get them to help you! If you want a rally game that works on the first try with the above described setup-get Xpand Rally Extreme-it worked for me on the first try. DON'T WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED $$$$$ ON THIS SEGA P.O.S.!!!!!!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't work!, February 9, 2008
This review is from: Sega Rally Revo (CD-ROM)
I tried installing this game on my computer, and it would only show me the intro video segment, and the launcher would not work. I tried the suggested uninstall and reinstall, and still it would not launch. Lame. It looked nice from the video intro and the effects it went through while installing looked like fun (I saw 7 arctic tracks go by, and some fog features)- too bad I never got to see them for real!
And I do have a brand new computer with the expensive 8600 video card, so i know my system should be able to handle it.
